I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant when I went to Mola, From the moment I walked in, something just felt off about the place. The food was greasy and the cleanliness was questionable at best I noticed something on the floor that looked like rat droppings but maybe it was beans….either way it was disgusting But what really stood out and not in a good way, was the appalling behavior I witnessed from one of the employees, a white male with shiny bald head was talking to a costumer like normal but what caught my attention is when she mentioned having family in Israel he said he wishes all Muslims were dead it was hateful and dehumanizing. Everyone in the restaurant seemed uncomfortable, but no one stepped in. The fact that something like that could happen in a public space, especially in a city as diverse as D.C., is horrifying. Maybe it was the level of hate that paralyzed everyone, idfk After witnessing that I couldn’t even enjoy my meal (not that the food was enjoyable to begin with) The grease practically soaked through the plate and the taste was bland and off putting Honestly I couldn’t tell if the food was terrible on its own or if it was the disgusting display of racism that ruined it, Either way, the people working there clearly don’t care about providing a decent experience for their customers or about basic human decency unless you’re white or have money to spend since they only seem to either want tips or appeal to your political side to make u spend more for that matter I can’t recommend Mola to anyone Not even my opp, It’s not just about the greasy food or the lack of cleanliness it’s the fact that they seem to foster an environment where racism and Islamophobia are tolerated if not outright encouraged. Avoid this place at ALL COSTS. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that actually deserve your business. Mola isn’t one of them. I’ve see a bunch of good reviews and it’s probably because they offer discounts with good reviews, so if you’re ever in a pinch for Pennies and wanna support hatred than mola is for you
EDIT
Blaming your neighbors for the issues in your restaurant instead of addressing the concerns raised is honestly mind-blowing!!!! How can you claim my review is a complete lie when I’ve detailed exactly what I experienced during my visit??? The fact that you’re deflecting and painting your business as the victim here despite an employee making hateful and dehumanizing comments to a customer speaks volumes, If you were truly concerned about the experience your customers have, you’d focus on fostering an environment of respect and professionalism rather than trying to dismiss every criticism as a conspiracy. This isn’t about your neighbors, this is about how you’re running your business. If this is your idea of damage control, it’s a terrible look for you. Own up to your mistakes, improve your establishment, and maybe then you wouldn’t have to rely on pointing fingers to excuse your...

Read moreI have been here five times… I have not posted a review because this is also a spot that I did not want to make super hot and have lines out the door. But unfortunately, I feel terrible for gatekeeping, so here is the tea. This is a great happy hour spots, a great lunch spot, a great dinner spot. Also say yes to ordering the side sauces you’re going try to tell yourself you don’t need it then you’re going to order it when you’re halfway through the empanada and you’re will be upset with yourself. So go ahead and order all the side sauces order all of the empanada options take a friend. Go for happy hour get a gimlet and try their cosmo. Also, if you’re on the hungry, or Side might go to order is ceviche, ordered the Ropa “Nueva” (this to me as their best dish, but empanadas are amazing but this Ropa!) Now after you’ve done all this, come back to my post and tell me how amazing it was… You’re welcome 🤣❤️🔥.
Also, how can I forget the staff. They’re amazing and I love the atmosphere. The bar is tiny, but it’s perfect. You get to interact with the bartender and the manager always comes out to check on you. It just feels like a very homey place even though it’s set...
