If their burgers weren’t so good, I would have given up on this place 3 attempts ago! Friday night I tried calling to order takeout. No answer. Fine… I got in the car and arrived at 8:30pm and walked on in, only to be told they were closed. You don’t look closed?? “It’s a slow night. Kitchen is closed.” No matter their posted hours end at 9pm… I get it, on a slow night one might want to close early, especially on a weekend! As I pulled away though, I witnessed another group of diners trying the door and this time finding it locked. So, how slow was it if you lose 2 orders in the couple of minutes I was there? The next two days, Sunday and Monday, are their regular days off. Tuesday I tried calling again. No answer again. Not even a recording, it just rang and rang. I returned, determined to have my traveling aunt try these burgers! I went much earlier, not wanting a repeat of Friday night. This time as I pulled up I saw a sign on the door: “Closed for repairs”. Sheesh. It’s like the universe is plotting against me! I gave up for the next few days, figuring I couldn’t call to find out if they were open again or not and I didn’t want to be embarrassed again. Should I try again tonight? If this were any other place, I’d have already written them off. How long are they going to skate on the reputation of...
Read moreI would be rating them a lot worse but we have had plenty of good eating experiences there but this one probably won't have us going back. Usually the owner is there and he was not around tonight. We ordered drinks and they came out fairly quickly. Then we waited... and waited... and waited some more. It was 10+ minutes. So I finally turned to our waitress who brought the drinks and said something to the effect of "Hey, could we get our order in?" The response, with a great deal of attitude, was something to the effect of "Yeah, I will get there once I am done." Ok, fine. So I then proceed to order a black and blue burger medium done(on special, not always on the menu) and my wife ordered some other burger without lettuce. I have ordered tons of black and blue burgers and none of them have come out burnt. This one was clearly burnt. I even cut into it and it was clearly way over cooked. The lady that brought it out wasn't the original lady and she definitely didn't have the attitude but I did point out the burger was burnt and they were trying to tell me that is how a black and blue burger was supposed to be. I said fine. I ate probably 2/3rds of it and was done. They also put lettuce on my wife burger just as the top off of the night. For a $17 burger I expect much better food...
Read moreDrove a couple hours out of our way to meet a friend at the art festival today and our group was not disappointed. We ate the Brussels sprouts and Fried green tomatoes to start followed by a "mountain burger" (we thought it was named because we were in the mountains omg its huuuge) and their special of the day "cajun fried oysters" the rest of our party ordered burgers. I'm a culinary guy and a bit of a traveling foodie, not that my opinion holds any more merit than another's, but this was one of the best meals any of us had eaten in NC. Go there be adventurous with the menu and you will not be let down. Thanks for the...
