From first sight, the aesthetic of the building exterior draws you in. It is cute. It's not often you describe a building exterior as such, but it's warranted here, with the black and white striped awnings and the pink donut signage with the little bite taken out of it.
The cute theme continues in the interior of the donut shop. The floors are black and white patterned tile and the fixtures and furnishings are trendy. It is also clean, and carries the Covid signage and preparations you expect to see.
Now for the important part... the DONUTS. While I cannot speak to their selection prior to the pandemic, I can tell you I was impressed to find such a wide variety and stock at 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. I chose a half dozen, each donut different, and a small cup of coffee. We sampled a cinnamon sugar twist, chocloate glazed with caramel drizzle and toasted cocounut, glazed with chocolate drizzle, oreo crumble, original glazed that the employee thought was pumpkin (sigh), and the pièce de résistance a powdered red velvet. BOOM! All of them were delicious, but that powdered red velvet will be in my dreams tonight. Personally, my least favorite was the oreo crumble. If I could change one thing about my experience, it would be to include signs that label the donuts. I was pretty disappointed by the pumpkin donut mixup.
Overall, the prices were reasonable, the environment welcoming, and the donuts delicious. We...
Read moreI placed a preorder and picked up donuts for the first time over the weekend. Glad I did, because they were completely sold out when I arrived! The shop was very clean, and I liked the setup, along with the big window into the kitchen. My box was missing a couple donuts, but also had extras of a couple others, so I don’t know if a substitution was made or if it was a mistake…nothing was said about it. Anyway, I first need to suggest closing the boxes better. Tape them or something! The boxes are really flimsy and don’t match the quality of donuts. Putting my boxes in my car, I nearly lost them all because the boxes started to fold and open up. (I actually wonder if these were the usual boxes, because they were not the ones I see in other photos.) Now! The donuts are GREAT! All are a nice size (bigger than I was expecting), very nicely done, and very fairly priced! You can definitely tell they are scratch made! The first bite of that pumpkin cream cheese frosted one…oh my gosh! Delish! My husband, the apple fritter connoisseur, said his fritter was the best he’s had in a while! I love that the donuts aren’t over the top, no fancy frills, just good quality donuts that look good, too. I would love to try some different ones next time, and hopefully get a glimpse of the big...
Read moreI am a huge proponent of local business and was 3rd person in line when they opened this store for the first time. So the desire and love was real... I bring people into Cincinnati from all over the world for my business and I had traditionally picked those people up in the morning after their arrival to bring them to select donuts at Holtmans... It’s unfortunate that this activity has ceased as their staff/quality control and overall cleanliness has slipped drastically in the short time they have been open.
Donuts are often not fresh/day old or at least old enough to have a tough outer crust.
Donuts not having the filling (that you paid extra for) when donuts are no longer a CHEAP breakfast at 26 bucks a dozen or MORE
I was a huge fan of the ungodly expensive Cronut after getting these raw in the middle 2x twice (I was refunded both times)
And the place is just getting an overall film of filth on everything.
The once beautiful tile floor is now yuk for a lack of a better term. Tables have funk from the previous visitors of days gone by.
This was once the Mecca and now it’s those expensive donuts that are eh.
It’s unfortunate and a product of uncaring employees lacking in passion and the...
