Surf's Up Mount Prospect — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

This little, unassuming restaurant should not be missed! Surf's Up in Mt. Prospect is conveniently located right next to the AMC Theater in Randhurst and this is the perfect place to grab a bite before the movies! Convenient parking lot right next to it as well.

This is a cute little restaurant with a few tables, window seats and seating along the wall. With the weather being nice there are tables outside too. Hubby and I wanted some seafood and we passed by Surf's Up a few times so it's long overdue for us to stop and try the food today.

The owner, Lisa, was working behind the counter. She is so sweet and certainly very proud of her restaurant! We asked her for recommendations and she was happy to share some of the top preferred items of guests. She gave us time to look over the menu. I settled on the fried catfish dinner with a side of grits, greens & a roll. Hubby wanted fish and chips with a roll. Lisa told us that everything is made fresh to order so it would be about 15-20 mins. We weren't in any hurry, but we appreciated the heads up and the fact that it was all freshly made.

The food arrived crispy and hot and oh so delicious! My catfish was so flakey. The grits and greens were the perfect sides to go with it. Hubs really enjoyed his fish and chips. The fries were so good, we couldn't stop eating them. Lisa also sold us on the fresh bread pudding, but we so full so we had to take it go. Just finished it tonight and it was even more delicious than she described!

We will certainly be returning to try the shrimp po' boy and other items on her menu! Plus more bread pudding. Don't pass up this cute little place with delicious fresh seafood and desserts plus...

This was our time first trying this place and it absolutely will not be our last! I wouldn't be upset to go back tomorrow! Absolutely phenomenal fried seafood. I would absolutely recommend you try this place! Everything was very fresh and well worth the money. Tha Bomb sandwich was GREAT And the fried lobster tail was DELICIOUS!!! I have only amazing things to say about this place and detailing friends-and-family all about it. Hush puppies were delicious, fries or home style, small cut and tasty. Great classic flavor dirty rice, too. Definitely give them a try if you're thinking about it.

Update: I HAD to have this place again! After having them the first time, we tried a second location in Lockport, customer service was rough, so we went back to Mount prospect-They're awesome here. We will only ever go to this location. Their food is some of the best I've had and everyone was VERY friendly and pleasant!! This time, we got Tha bomb sandwich with a side of red potatoes. I ordered on their website and picked it up for carryout. The woman behind the counter was a friendly face as soon as I walked in the door. My food was hot and ready, and I got a free drink! Ordering on the app was super easy and the food travels well, as we live about 20 minutes away. If you're a fan of remoulade sauce, definitely get a bunch of extra surf sauce. The first time I try this restaurant because I like southern cuisine. I came for lunch w family and ordered lobster and shrimp , and hush puppies When food came, I tasted hush puppies and they were totally row in the middle so I notified the manager , she offered me another one but my appetite was gone after eating raw corn flour. I finished my lunch or what s left of it then I asked the manager if is she going to issue a refund for the item that I never ate , She s like I ll get 2 $ back , I took it and as I was leaving I told Beatrice the manager that next time w another customer I suggest to give the refund for the item that because they served a bad raw hush puppies that may cause diarrhea. Her answer was w attitude I ll just give u the rest which is $5 from my wallet. I felt so embarrassed in front of every one , I was helping her to know how to give good customer service and solve the problem w the next customer but w me I am cool I do not need her money it was disrespectful act.
