At best, this place gets 5 thumbs down! Owner Frank Costa is a piece of work. Not a trustworthy man nor ethical in his practice as a businessman. He does not stand behind his promises to his customers. Place looks good on the outside but working with the owner is a very different story. Frank changed his mind on everything promised to us. The only reason for having our 50th Reunion there was that Frank promised us the entire rooftop. Open bar, plenty of staff, seating, tables etc... only it would never happen that way. Frankie renege on his committment to our class the week before the reunion. He even asked that we write one check for the food and drinks that night because it would be too much for his staff to handle. How absurd! Who does that!
It gets better: On the evening of the event he went as far as to try to curtail where we gathered on the rooftop by designating tables and the area by the bar for his (regular customers). Don't know what he thought we were! He also directed his staff to tell us to move from where we were eating food and having drinks at our tables! What! Of course, we objected and Frankie showed up yelling at our director making a spectiacle of himself (true colors always show). He went as far as threatening to remove us bodily from the premise by calling the police. Can you imagine! We ignoring his abusive behavior and chose where "we" wanted to gather despite this bizarre behavior from the owner, but low and behold, he continued his bully/rude behavior with other members of our party, then finally went away. We patronized this place by buying food and drinks. We could have gone to dinner elsewhere and just gathered for drinks but we believed we would be taken good care of despite the fact that the food is mediocre at best, we were committed to showing good faith in supporting this place. (We had looked at many other reputable places in the area that wanted our business but Frankie insisted/mislead us into believing his establishment was the best choice and he was fully staffed to accommodate us with great food and a fully stocked bar). The oposite was true as he began complaining about staffing up for us. Even told us we could not go to the bar downstairs. What! Any other place would have loved to have such a great and wonderful crowd of people bringing in so much money to his business. And I might add - new customers. We all know that any business in this economy would welcome such a crowd with open arms and make sure they were happy. Not this guy! We had over 130+ people there and we never received a "thank you" for patronizing this place. That speaks volumns! He even went as far as to insist we give him a minimum $10,000 bar tab. What a joke! Not even the best bar downtown on a weekend night get a $10,000 bar tab! He was lucky to have us and you can bet it was more than likely, the best tab on a Friday night this place has ever seen along with great tips to his staff. Never again! Lastly, and this is the kicker, Frankie kept blaming the owner for the changes, deceitfully placing the blame on the owner. We later found out the Frankie Costa was the owner! Imagine that!
In conclusion, we spend allot of mony at Rooftop Tap. As our final gesture to Rooftop Tap, our entire class has decided collectively to NEVER step foot in this place again or recommend Rooftop Tap to anyone we know and care about. Not only our class, but all the people of LF know what went on here and stand with us. Southsiders do not take lightly to this kind of behavior or deceptive rhetoric from any establishment, especially abuse of any of our friends.
The only good part that came of this is we never let people like Frankie Costa ruin a good party! Despite Frankie's appaulling behavior, we had the best time together! It is never the place, it's always the people.
We give Frankie Costa 5 thumbs down +! Little Flower Class of 72 and...
Read moreI visited this place Saturday 8/27/22 .Well I give this place 1 star. The customer service from Terri I give an F. From the moment that we (4 people) walked in the place we felt unwelcomed. We only stayed because there was no other restaurant around. I picked the place because it was a nice sunny day and we had a out of town guest and thought that this place would be nice because they had an out door roof top and enjoy the weather and have a nice meal. Well when we approached the roof top (upstairs area)we waited to be seated as the sign stated. We were never greeted. So after a while we asked the hostess/ waiter/ bartender Terri if she could seat us. On point her attitude was awful... She was rude, no customer service what so ever. She waved us away with her hand and in a a very nasty way told us to sit anywhere. We found seats and waited 30 minutes before we were greeted by a waiter. We finally received water and was able to place our order. ( I can't remember that waiters name but she was nice) We sat on the bottom level of the rooftop but the sun was hot. We saw some open seats up top by the bar and asked Terri ( who was walking around waiting on guests) if we could sit up top by the bar and once again in a rude tone she waved us off and said sit anywhere. We moved to the rooftop by the bar. We asked Terri if she could get us some water or drinks while we waited for our food because she was the only waiter we saw. AGAIN... In her rude voice we were told by her that she didn't take orders because she was the bartender. But we saw her taking orders and bringing drinks to the tables around us. I really don't want to use the race card but Terri was very friendly, very happy and joking with the other people at the tables around us. And she did bring them water and drinks. I guess because we were African Americans we didn't deserve the same customer service that was given to white customers. Terri is definitely needs to take some customer service classes so that she can learn to treat ALL the customers the same and with respect. Because of her I will never visit this place again and I will be sure to to tell other co workers and friends not to visit this place. I would like to give praise to Vinnie and Molly. Vinnie brought us water several times. Whenever he walked pass we would ask him and with a cheerful smile he would always answer yes even though he was busy doing something else. He even set up umbrellas for us on the lower level even though we eventually moved up top by the bar. He was always pleasant to us and that is why we tipped him instead of a waiter. Terri did come over to tell us that Molly would be closing out our order. She (Terri) was pleasant this time when she spoke to us. Trying to do damage control after we mention to Vinnie that we were going to give a review about her customer service. Terri even had the nerve to ask us if we could move on pass the earlier incidents ??? The nerve... she needs to move on to a customer service class. Molly was pleasant when dealing with us we have no complaints about her. But a BIG KUDOS to Vinnie, you need more employees like him. You can throw all the employees that act like Terri away. I saw her inter action with the bikers and other white customers and she was over friendly too bad we didn't experience the same service. If you are black this is not the establishment you want to give your money to... Signed ANGRY BLACK CUSTOMER..... I can take my money...
Read more6/9/23 Update We finally had time to visit the bar upstairs and we were not dissapointed. We ordered the wings and nachos again and they were just as good as before.
The roof top area is very comfortable and roomy. The best part of being upstairs was the Staff who waited on us. We were able to find a spot at the bar and were well taken care of by the bartenders. Everyone was very friendly and made you feel at home. Nichole, Stephane and Rita were amazing. They made sure we always had what we needed. They made our Fri night out a great experience. In fact, most Fri we are already back home by 8:30 after dinner and drinks out and about. We were having so much fun, before we knew it it was midnight.
Thank you so much ladies for rolling out the red carpet. We look forward to our next visit and we will be bringing a few more friends along.
Roy/Joey
We had driven by Rooftop Tap many times but never stopped. We finally stopped on this Saterday afternoon, we must say, we should have stopped a long time ago.
We ordered the hot wings and steak nachos. The wings were made fresh and the buffalo sauce was spicy and tangy. Most places have hot wing these days, what sets these apart from the others is that they are bigger than most other wings we have ordered and at a reasonable price. The nachos were more than enough for 2-3 people. The steak was cooked just right and the mexican seasonings were used well but not over done. The tortilla chips were made to order in house which we loved. They were crispy, well seasoned and not oily. The cheese sauce was just right, cheesey, not runny and a little spicy.
Overall RTT IS WORTH your time and money. We look forward to when the weather gets warmer so we can sit outside in their roof top bar and enjoy the...
