Anyone that reads my reviews knows i do not embellish them. I give people an honest review of the experience i have at a given business. Today was not a very good time at The Waterfront restaurant. My daughter decided that she was going to take me out to lunch for father's day. I was not too thrilled with her choice of This place. I have listened to way too may comments about this restaurant from many families and friends that were not very good. Sadly today was a continuation of much the same thing. We pulled in and parked and went in. The hostess was nice and seated us on the patio. Looking over the menu i was not impressed. Too many items ( this is usually a bad sign ) and i did not find much when it came to a lunch menu. Also the prices are just way out of line for the fair offered. The waiter was very good and he took the time to listen to our order and had a very good grasp of what was on the menu. I am not into wrap's and i am highly suspect of food when all of it is altered in one way or another and strays to gar from the normal. So to be safe i ordered the ground beef tacos. Because how can you screw up a taco? My daughter ordered a burger and my granddaughter wanted the kids pizza. Nothing on our order can really be cooked wrong. These items are cooking 101. Well whomever is the so-called " chef" needs to turn in his coat. The taco's had no flavor, well if you want to call tasting raw beef a flavor then i guess they did. It was the nastiest thing i have ever put in my mouth. I tried my best to chew it up to swallow it but could not. I had to spit it into my napkin. The fries that came with the burger my daughter ordered ( well done mind you ) were not completely cooked and neither was the pizza. The outer portion of the pizza was burned and the rest was under done. The center of my daughter's burger was also not cooked properly. Now this place has 4 different types of tacos on the menu. Did they have what goes with taco's, no. They offered french fries or coleslaw. No Pico or salsa just tabasco sauce. Absolutely no spices in the beef. Tomatoes that leached so much water that the tortillas were soggy coming right out of the kitchen. These tacos are quite possibly the worst i have ever had except for the ones in vagas. The manager came out to speak with us but at this point my daughter just wanted to go. Now instead of doing the right thing and let us go she said well I'll take half off the bill. Not one thing had more than a couple bites out of them and i had one bite that i spit out. Clearly they need to have a big meeting and figure out how to better get things together. They need to revamp the menu, learn how to cook food properly and when you totally drop the ball, comp the bill and find out how they failed so miserably. Needless to say we will never go back ever. Its a sad commentary to society when most of your higher quality restaurants cannot serve decent food. She used the term chef. No chef worth his salt would ever let this kind of poorly cooked dishes come out of his or her kitchen. So i guess i did give you a little bit of my opinion of what happened today but i felt what i have said is justified. Is the place clean, yes it is. Is the place nice, yes it is. Do they have a good floor staff, for the most part , yes. Is the patio area nice, yes it is. Can the so called chef serve good food , no. So there you have it. And thats all i have to...
Read moreMy fiance and I went to The Waterfront Wyandotte for dinner a couple of weekends ago. I wanted to go somewhere that had a patio, overlooking water, with a breeze, and a glass of wine. This place checked all of those boxes and even had live music.
Little did we know we were in for an interesting night. I started off by ordering a glass of Reisling. When it was delivered to my table, the glass had a thumb size smudge of white stuff on the side of it. I told our waitress and she immediately remedied the issue. *Picture of the clean glass of wine attached.
We put in an order for a chicken sandwich and fries, spinach artichoke dip, a Caesar salad, and chicken marsala with wild rice and broccolini and carrots.
We then waited about 20 minutes and our appetizer was not out. Our waitress offered to get us a bread basket and about 10 minutes later had warm bread. We devoured the bread within minutes and the appetizer finally came out. Our waitress was kind and apologized for the wait.
After about another 20 minutes, our dinner was served. We were extremely underwhelmed. He shared that his sandwich and fries were okay if you are them quickly. I tried the chicken marsala and the flavor was not quite what I was expecting. I didn't take a picture as the plating looked like the food was just slid on the plate and splattered with sauce. It was not the best I've ever had. I'm a chicken marsala lover and my standards are a bit high. The sauce was more like a thick gravy and the marsala wine was not pulling through as much as it could. The chicken was moist and tender. When I tried the broccolini, carrots, and wild rice, it was cold. It was almost like it had either been sitting out for the entire time we were waiting for pulled from the fridge and missed a reheat cycle. The Caesar salad never even made it to the table and it is quite possible that was for the better at this point.
Aside from the food experience, our waitress was attentive, kind, and doing her best to manage all of her tables, given the situation. She made our experience alright. Combined with her good attitude and the atmosphere, it was a neat place to be. However, the food, wait, and management of the restaurant could be better.
Lastly, if you are in a time crunch, this is not the restaurant for you. It took a while for tables to be bussed and new patrons...
Read moreMy first visit on Thursday, June 27th was great! The staff & manager was very courteous, personable & professional.
The second visit on Sunday, June 30th was horrible and we ended up leaving and going to Brickhouse. There was 10 of us. We just left my niece's baptism and wanted to enjoy a nice meal & setting. We called ahead to ask if there were any special requirements to accommodate our group and we were told no it will be fine.
We arrived and Victor, the manager, said we can sit you at the long table by the parking area. I asked if we could sit at the umbrella tables since there were a number of them available & to ensure my mother was good because she is still recovering from open heart surgery & other challenges.
Victor says no that will be too much for a waitress to serve 3 tables side by side and that he didn't want the walking between tables from us. I was offended that he would insinuate that we had no etiquette and would be walking from table to table like we are little children. I assumed it would be the same as a waitress serving us at one long table (exempt the umbrella). Same amount of people just side by side tables.
Nevertheless, we wanted to just eat and enjoy the fellowship of one another so we agreed to dine inside. Victor showed us an area and then he started sitting 3 other guest before seating us at our table. His excuse then was, 'give me a minute, I have to find someone that can serve you'. This was ludacris because if we would have initially agreed to sit at the long table by the parking area, he was going to immediately sit us without hesitation or waiting to find a waitress that could serve us but all of a sudden, he didn't have anyone available.
I was truly disappointed but had a wonderful experiment no problem spending our money up the street at another restaurant. The other guy (I think his name was Louie) working that afternoon kept apologizing for the inconvenience. Hopefully in the future, Victor will be more accommodating to all paying customers and not make a big deal about one long table in the sun versus 3 side by side tables not in the sun. Its the same...
