Mr Do is a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh that offers a range of seafood and other Vietnamese dishes, along with a selection of signature cocktails. During our visit, we found several positive aspects of the restaurant, as well as some areas that could use improvement.
One of the standout features of Mr Do was the enthusiasm and friendliness of the young staff. They were very welcoming and attentive, which made us feel appreciated as customers. The staff was also very knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations when we were unsure what to order.
Speaking of the menu, it was quite extensive and offered a wide variety of dishes. We opted for the seafood selection, which was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The portion sizes were also quite generous, which was a welcome surprise.
Another positive aspect of our visit was the price. We found the prices to be reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes.
However, one area where Mr Do could improve is in the freshness of their seafood dishes. While we enjoyed our seafood selection, we couldn't help but wonder if every dish was fresh given the size of the menu. We would have appreciated more information on where the seafood was sourced and how it was prepared.
In terms of drinks, the signature cocktails were a mixed bag. Some were quite good, while others didn't quite hit the mark. Overall, the drink menu was solid but not exceptional.
Despite this minor criticism, we had an enjoyable experience at Mr Do. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a seafood meal in Ho Chi Minh, as long as they don't mind the size of the menu and the slight uncertainty about the freshness of...
Read moreI anticipated an exceptional dining experience based on the restaurant's high reviews, but sadly, it fell short of expectations.
The rushed service began as we were looking at the menu, with the male waiter/manager abruptly informing us of a strict 1-hour time limit, barely 5 minutes into our arrival. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere throughout our meal, especially in the end when the male staff was frequently looking over to see if we have finished. The lobster combo we ordered was average, with some parts being mushy. The seafood, though satisfactory, didn't justify the steep price, especially considering the small serving size—leaving us questioning if we received the correct order.
Our concerns were shared with the empathetic female cashier, while the male staff seemed defensive, following us to the cashier and asking the female staff about the situation (in Vietnamese).
The saving grace of the night was the scenic view, however it was evident that the high cost was more for the ambiance than the culinary experience.
For a more satisfying dining experience, I recommend exploring Ho Thi Ky street, where I found a far superior...
Read moreI thought I wrote a review before but I guess it didn't go through. Don't believe the 5 star reviews here. The manager pressured me into writing one while I was there at the end of my meal. They then wanted to take a picture to 'feature' it. How the hell am I supposed to be honest in front of them like that?
This food is mediocre at best and extremely overpriced. There's literally nothing special about it that YOU can't make at home. The vibe and venue certainly is nice, and the waiter/waitresses are nice too, but man did it rub me off the wrong way.
The fact they did that bumped it down 1 star. In reality it's 2/5. It's just ok tasting and the price is outrageous so you get heavily...
