Had to give a new review due to the maintenance people there and their overly power tripping personality. We went to this park because we had gone many times before and it is beautiful, we decided to have our babys first birthday there and per their website the pavilion is first come first serve. When we arrived there at 7-8am, the far pavilion was being occupied by a church even with maybe over 60 people there so we took the pavilion in front of the beach area and started setting up all the tables and such. Had a elderly couple around 9am ask us if they could sit in one of the benches to have their coffee, one of them had a chair so we said sure until we were done decorating. They had two pasco maintenance people come in and sit down with them, I was finishing up and had to decorate the tables next and asked the elderly people when they were leaving so I could start decorating the tables and the maintenance guy plan stated they didnt have to go anywhere and went on to tell him we were there first and it was stated on the website it is first come first serve and it started a whole argument from there where he was telling me that they were coming there everyday for years and we only came once and that we better clean after ourselves like we weren't planning on doing so already and mind you there still being trash there from a party before us which obviously he didn't care about, even had the audacity to ask us if we had a permit if we were going to have 30 people there, he kept coming up with all this nonsense that had to shut him down quick and put my foot down on his attitude cause he wanted to play alpha dog while we had the right to be there first.

Long story short, they all ended up leaving the pavilion as we were there first. Terrible way to start my daughters first birthday honestly, which only qbout 13 people showed up anyway but atleast the baby and her cousins had fun.

Lesson learned, stay home or go elsewhere to do birthday party, even if you have no music, and are being clean and are first come first serve, the people that go there are entitled so don't try to be nice to elderly people and let them have their morning coffees. And us millennials are the disrespectful ones huh who...

Update 6/21 After reading some recent reviews suggesting improvement had been made to this park i decided to give it a second chance. After visiting again today, I stand by my initial 3 star rating.

To be clear, this is NOT a beach. This is a park with water access. If you look at it as such-a park with water access- it's a nice little park. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy, the board walk is nice to over look the marshy area. The playground is new. There are plenty of places to access the water to either put in a small water craft, fish or wade.

The 'beach' area continues to be a disappointment. If you are looking for a Sandy place to lay out your towel and soak up the sun- look elsewhere. The sandy area is so over run with crabs there is really no where to set up comfortably for any duration of time. Between the crabs and the cigarette butts all over the sand, its just not enjoyable.

The water is clear but walking into it, it's not a sandy bottom, it's more of a marshy, silt bottom.

All in all, i think this park is nice for fishing or kayaking, just not what I'm looking for in a beach.

Original review from 2018: Apparently this park has a reputation for unsavory business dealings. It was clean. Decent playground for the kids. Very small beach area and it's over run by sand crabs so it's hard to finda place to put your towel. The water is clear though and it's not real grassy like other...

I scored Robert K. Rees with Four Stars because my expectations were not high, and because it exceeded them; in addition, I appreciated the relatively short drive. It is a cozy little beach on the Gulf of Mexico in New Port Richey. I appreciated the Pavilions as I did not have to drag my tent to the beach even though it would have been a very short walk from the parking lot.

Even though there were a few families there it did not feel crowded. A few of the best features are the Playground equipment for little ones and how shallow the water was for them to be able to walk around catching fish and crabs; there are also bathrooms and outdoor showers.

Parking is fairly limited and there is a tiny cost of $2.00 per car; the machine will accept cash and credit cards. If you are in Lutz, Wesley Chapel, and Land O' Lakes, consider going there instead of the next county as it is only about a 35-40 minute-drive. My friends who drove from Zephyrhills did not mind the drive.

You will likely encounter wildlife (raccoons). There is a Big "Do Not Molest or Feed The Animals" sign; that cause may be lost already because they did not seem to be scared of people when they came to look for their lunch in the covered trash can nearby.

I would make one suggestion which is that they move the trash can a little farther away from the Pavilion because I did not stop looking over my shoulder for the...

Robert K. Rees Memorial Park — Pasco County’s Hidden Gem Join us as we explore Robert K. Rees Memorial Park, better known to locals as Green Key. From mangroves and boardwalks to Gulf access and hidden fishing spots, this park is a true coastal treasure in Pasco County. 🌴⚓ Historical photos from the early years are nearly impossible to find, leaving us to imagine what life looked like on Deer Island before it became the park we enjoy today. Today, Green Key is not only a park but also a spot where snook and redfish thrive along the mangrove shorelines. 🐟 Whether you’re here for the views, the history, or the fish, Green Key has something for everyone. Green Key's beach isn't much. Theyve got a swim area that is netted off. 'Sposed to keep any predatory ocean animals out (e.g. sharks, lion fish, etc. etc.) and the little ones (children) in. Theres no life gaurd and on most days there's no way to lie out on the beach due to how small the sandy area is. There is a park for the little ones (jungle gym with monkey bars and swings and such,) as well as two pavilions and a public bathroom. Aside from the beach, play area, and pavillions there is a short board walk. Mostly a view of mangroves, but at the end there is a small tower that over looks the water. I could imagine a few beautiful photographs have been taken there, but that's in spite the glaring graffiti that adjournes the wooden structure. TL;DR There's some nastalgia to be had here, but it's not comfortable. There are better locations just south win he form of Anclote's towers and the options only get better further south. If you absolutely can't go anywhere else, it's a beach. But, if you're weighing your options, it'd behoove you to look elsewhere.
