We were traveling thru the area and had this on our sightseeing list. We are full time rv travelers. We have seen ALOT of museums. Honestly, we were a bit underwhelmed with the museum - especially for the cost of $20 a person (we found a reseller deal online for $15). They had some cool older items, but not to the magnitude you would expect for the name & cost. Should be more in the line of $8-$10 a person relative to what was there and the quality & quantity opinion. A lot of places seem to raise the price to offset expenses when it would make more traffic if they lowered the price and more people could afford. Perk: It was really great that they offer dry camping for free and full hookups for $40. Visited on a Sunday and it was very quiet. Just some noise from highway. Nice they were open every day. Very good layout for RV parking and great to have an option so close to the museum. Dump stations on site. This was all awesome! Peeve: We saw two separate sets of guests INSIDE walking around the museum with dogs - really LARGE dogs. Very surprised they allow this. Wouldn’t think they’d want them around the displays. The dogs didn’t seem well behaved and were approaching us & other visitors and trying to investigate the campers. Not ideal for us honestly. Have never seen dogs at any other inside attraction, especially a museum with vintage items. I understand accommodating pet owners but this seemed a bit much especially given they likely had an RV they arrived in they could have stayed in. Overall, definitely worth a stop if camping is of interest to you! Some cool vintage pieces.

We had been to the RV/MH Museum a few years ago and enjoyed it very much, so we decided to visit again and we are very glad we did! This is a fantastic museum with so many great examples of campers and RV's throughout history. They have added more to their collection and there are also many more that are open! We loved being able to (carefully) step inside and admire all of the beautiful wood finishes, the period-correct details, and the little "extra" touches that make each one unique. We also enjoyed seeing all of the display cases filled with old and new camper toys. They are also building an expansion to showcase more on the MH side of things, so we will definitely be back to check that out too. Gift shop was also lots of fun! Admission price was very reasonable. Thanks for taking such great care of your wonderful collection and for sharing it with the rest of us! *One thing to note: The museum is on EASTERN time! So if you're traveling from the central time zone (as we did) please plan accordingly so you don't miss a thing!:)

What exhibits they have are unique and well done. We especially love the campers from the 1920s to 1950s. We have been disappointed with their library. Appears they only have what others have donated to them and perhaps they need to be more proactive in their marketing. No coin copy machine to copy something you want either, and no staff or volunteer in library to assist you. Hours of operation are decent. If u are traveling with an RV you can camp 1 or 2 nights in their parking lot. No hookups or dump station that we saw. You should call ahead since they do use facility for major events in event halls on property which could make parking an RV impossible or prohibited on certain dates. Small museum store does have some books, tee shirts of various RV themes, some collectibles. We bought a life membership in 2017 to support them. This was our 3rd visit in 4 yrs. We manage to see something we missed each time.

I brought my lens to capture space, in Elkhart's hall of RV grace. The modern homes stood crisp and clear, with neutral tones from floor to rear. But then those vintage doors swung wide, to show the warmth that lived inside. Rich wooden walls in amber glow, like memories from long ago. Through curves of chrome and curtains bright, each camper held its own delight. The lighting proved a tricky game. One bulb made shadows hard to tame. Some coaches wore their orange proud, their vintage charm drew quite a crowd. No sleek design could quite compare to retro comfort nestled there. I thought I knew what made homes shine (clean lines and trends of current time), but walking through these spaces old, made me see warmth beats crisp and cold. These vintage vans showed me the way: how home should feel from day to day. Their amber glow and wooden beams, now shape my own house warming dreams.
