Bhagwati Mandir which is situated inside the Ratnadurga Fort & is a holy place and a must visit point for all nature lovers. I bet that sunset view from the hill is a worth time to spend with your friends and family. There is a small shop which serves Tea and Snacks, however one can buy the needed stuff right from the city. The best time to visit this place is September/October/November as the weather is amazing and less cloudy so you don't miss out the sunset part. I will honestly request all my fellow countrymen that do not litter as it spoils the cleanliness of the place. Ratnagiri name comes from the Ratnadurg Fort's name, though history does not mention much about this place but the place is still good. Ratnagiri is on the way of NH-17 which connects Mumbai and Goa. You can have speciality sea food of Ratnagiri, however for vegetarian the delight place is Hotel Mithila or Ganesh Bhuvan. There are lot of good resorts and beaches around the city, including Ganpatipule which is just an 30 mins drive away place. You can buy Cashew, Alphonso Mangoes, Amba Wadi, Fanas Wadi, Kokum, Kokum Juice/Aagal as these are speciality of Konkan.

During our trip to Ratnagiri in Feb 18, I have visited Ratndurg fort with my family. Ratndurg fort, is also known as “Bhagwati cha killa” and it's not hard to see why. The famous Bhagwati temple stands at the highest point in Ratnagiri's upper fort. This is a very beautiful temple located on the Ratnadurg fort, it is about 3 to 4 km away from ST stand Ratnagiri. The temple is very clean, quiet, peaceful & huge in size. Temple is made at the center of place. During Navratri, a huge festival is organized in this temple. During our visit we walked along the side wall and saw the amazing view of the sea. While going to the temple, take an auto or your any vehicle to visit the place else you need to take a long walk. You can take your vehicle up to the hill. You can go to light house also which is situated on the fort.

Located in the Ratnagiri Fort, this temple is reasonably big, less crowded and has an exquisite marble floored interior. The surroundings are cool thanks to the thick plantations. The pavements adjoining the fort walls exquisitely (red) stone paved are commendable. One could walk comfortably for half an hour over these paved paths. The surroundings are kept clean. The temple has a Bhagvathy deity customary to the Kshatriya rulers. A display of shields, cups, and trophies indicates that the trust that manages the temple has deep under roots in the village social strata. We visited the temple on the shivaratri day, and witnessed explicit arrangements in progress for the festival.

The Bhagvati temple is situated atop the Ratnadurga fort in the Balekilla area. It is open to public between 7 am to 7 pm during all days. All vehicles can go upto the foothill & you need to climb only a few steps to reach the temple. It is a renovated temple of goddess Bhagvati, standing at the highest point in Ratnagiri. It is surrounded by the main fort area with a perimeter wall of around 1 km. A walk around this wall gives you a breathtaking view of the sea. The temple is one of the prominent temples of Ratnagiri. It is decorated during the Navratri festival & a small fare with some shops surrounds it during this time.

This temple is situated inside Fort Ratnadurg earlier known as " भगवतीचा किल्ला ". This is one of the ancient temple of INDIA . Very clean and well maintained temple . Best time to visit is during Navaratri festival . During festivals the temple is decorated with flowers and festoons . But beware during festivals it becomes extremely crowded so for all those who want to avoid crowd , avoid visiting during festivals . From the fort you can get a good view of the arabian sea and mirkarwadi jetty . This is situated at 5 kilometres from the Ratnagiri railway station .

Very peaceful place, a must visit spot when visiting Ratnagiri the temple is situation on top of the fort, the view from the top is beautiful, mountains and sea view, no matter how hot it is outside when you enter the temple it's cool and peaceful with positive vibes, they have renewed the fort by painting the walls and maintaining the garden, a historical place. The vehicle can get to the top via road and there is hardly 2 floors of climbing. Really huge place airy and best time to vist is during winter and rains
