A very nice place indeed. Love the idea of having this kind of place in Borneo. Whole family can go and enjoy this place. Childrens can learn about types of animals you can find in Borneo. You can find various types of animals, reptiles, mammals and birds not just about 'Crocodile'.
Very informative about animals, they provide informations about animals like Crocodiles, snakes, birds (cassowary), dear, horses, sun bear, civet, bear cat, mongkeys and etc..
For visitors: Please prepare a lot of insect repellent.. But if you forgot to bring one not to worry, they will give it for free to childrens upon purchasing tickets. (This might depends on the person working maybe?)
You can feed the animals but you need to purchase it there at their kiosk (Very cheap! Minimum of RM1 for bananas) and YES you can feed the crocodile with chicken meat. Its going to be a very fun to experience it. Dare yourself to do it. You can join their activity, not just limited to feeding the crocodile and other animals, you can ride pony, photo taking and etc
Hungry? They have small stall.. Or you can just bring your own food.. Have little break and picnic there..
Dont have Ringgit? They provide money changer (the currency varies and it depends on what currency eg. Brunei-Malaysia)
Very far? Nope, Not too far.. It tooks about 20-30mins to travel from Brunei-Malaysia border to the farm.
It is very smelly (dont say that I dont inform you!) Especially around Crocodile area. If you are not fond of smelly place, I advise you to wear either mask or just cover your nose.
Yes! Quite vast.. Depends on how you see it.
The farm needs to be improvise and renovated..
Overall.. Best place to go...
Read moreThe crocodile zoo was really interesting and informative, and it was great to see these huge reptiles up close. The crocodiles were just hanging out in the water, looking like they were fast asleep, but then sometimes moved really quickly! The farm is nicely landscaped with large lotus and water hyacinth ponds, and it's a bit cooler there thanks to the trees the owners have planted. The grounds are nicely maintained but watch out after heavy rain when a few paths can be a bit slippery.
It's obvious that the owners are proud of what they are doing, so I hope they don't take the following as disrespectful or unfair, but I feel I must say that the enclosures for some of the other animals and birds aren't all that great or appropriate, really. I felt sorry for the sun bears; they walked up and down in their enclosure and looked bored and unhappy.
Having said that, I did enjoy the visit, not least because there's also a cassowary in one enclosure. I hope the family who run this farm and mini zoo get many more visitors so that some funds become available to upgrade some of the older enclosures.
This attraction is a little way north of Miri, and as far as I'm aware there's no public transport. If you don't have your own vehicle, be sure to arrange a pickup with a Grab or taxi beforehand. Not many drivers in the city might be keen to...
Read moreThe entrance fee is standard, locals (rm19 adults, rm9 kids age 3 above) Foreigners have different rates. *If you choose to feed the crocs, then you pay an extra rm10 for a ticket (it gets you a piece of raw chicken which the handler will be handling, and you get to toss it using a stick of sort). Also, if you want a pony ride, you pay extra too.
Other than crocs, there are farms animals- rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, horses, pony's. Then you also have birds, both exotic and local species, reptiles, deer. For most of the herbivores there, you are able to also feed them. There will be animal feed prepacked available at the fence, which you pay by dropping in the money (rm1 a pack) in boxes available next to the prepacked feed.
Overall, it is an interesting experience getting upclose with the crocs, you get to hear them make funny "pop" noises every time they open their mouths to try and get the "flying" pieces of chicken. And experience hand feeding ponys, rabbits, deer, sheep etc. It is definitely worth a visit.
Tip- *Feeding the crocs - if you didn't buy tickets at the entrance to feed the crocs, and later decided to do so, you may pay directly to the keeper in the area. *Food - you may bring your ownown sna and food to eat as the options available are pretty lame and hygene may be...
