I hesitated on writing the review due to the contact from the owner. But I keep getting Google request to give a review. And looking at other reviews just made me more upset with our experience. And it didn't help that a totally different tourist had the SAME experience just a week ago. The idea of bamboo rafting is awesome. To be on the water with a slow excursion on a river in đŻđ˛ sounds amazing. To think you can be on the water vibing drinking listening to cool tunes and enjoy authentic food was exciting. BUT BUT BUT this experience was NOT that. We were the very last group to get there. First the young raftman says his name is Kenny said he was finish for the day and was called back for us. Maybe that didn't sit well with him and the other's. They took us 50ft down and on the other side of the river (walking distance) gave the limestone massage which was in all fairness very good. Then proceeded to force us to get in the water (to waste time I presume) 2 out of 6 of us did. Back on the raft we kept asking when does the tour start (as it was getting late) they literally & intentionally ignored us. On their phone, smoking and talking amongst themselves. We finally realized they were not planning to do the tour. They intentionally tried to waste time in that 50ft spot and then raft us back to the beginning. Which they did and had the audacity to ask for a tip (which were gave). Now it's time to pay and the woman is asking for $90 per raft (3) FOR WHAT!? We told her there was NO tour. She looks perplexed. Go and talk to the guys come back and charged $45/raft. That was absurd! This could have been an exciting adventure as like other reviews. They could have easily said it's too late or we can take you half way half price. NOTHING! I feel like I missed out on something that could have been beautiful. The deceit, the ignoring, the attempt to get over on tourists was not acceptable. The young lady did apologize and she and the(owner) did contact us to apologize. But again looking at the 4â reviews upset me all over. Check your raftmen. Be sure they do the full tour as expected. Or try another...
Read moreMy experience was terrible. The guy navigating the raft was so negative. When we got on the raft, he immediately told us that he was having a bad day. We asked what happened, and he gave us a sob story about how he just broke his speaker and needs $180 to replace it. He didnât know what he was going to do. We tried to comfort him, but because we didnât each pull out $90 to help him purchase his speaker, he became irate. A nearby raft was passing by and began to play âSnoozeâ by SZA. This individual proceeded to sing the song but changed the lyrics to sing about how he needs to find money to replace the speaker. Once he saw that poor attempt at begging wasnât working, he began to ignore us.
My friend asked him when he was supposed to start rubbing our feet with the clay/mud, and he ignored her. My friend had to ask him a total of three times before he finally said yes. He proceeded to park the raft in a way that we were completely in the sun while he was in the shade. He left us in the sun for about 15 minutes, and my neck and back were severely burnt even though I put on sunscreen. While putting the clay on my friendâs foot, he was very aggressive and upset. Once he was done, he said in a very aggressive tone, âImagine you have to do this type of work for 9 hours a day.â Pardon me, but that has nothing to do with us. We paid for a service and deserve good treatment. Tips are a bonus and are given for good customer service. The service was terrible. My first experience in Jamaica, and he ultimately ruined it. I will never return, and I will be making a TikTok with the videos I captured to let everyone know not to use Chukka for your rafting experience. I literally wasted my...
Read moreOur experience wasn't what we expected it too be. Once we got there it started pouring down raining. So my crew and I waited for about 30 minutes for it too slack up. Eventually it did so we proceeded down the stairs to get on our rafts. One of the gentlemen came down the stairs and told another guy that the water was rising on the top of the stairs. Nobody said anything to us so we proceeded to get on our rafts. Once we got on our rafts we floated about 20 feet parked underneath a bridge and took pictures. Then we floated about another 20 feet and parked. Our instructor rub the mud on our legs then let it set for about 10 minutes. By this time we talking and mingling with our friends. We ordered drinks and food from the guy on the stationary raft. Within this time frame our instructor washed our legs off then told us he was pushing us up therefore we can get off. We was like HUH!!!! What happened to us floating down the river? He said the current was to high and that we couldn't go. So basically they knew it from the start but took our money anyway. It's our fault we should have asked in the beginning when the guy told the other about the water being high. Lesson learned for us. Not sure if we...
