Well what can I say about our experience at the boone county arboretum except it is amazingness. So much nature in a busy city. The old saying stop and smell the roses, well here you can stop and smell several types of flowers. It is absolutely beautiful at the arboretum. Also very educational for the children. My 8 years cousin loves it. She is not much of an outdoors person however the mention of the arboretum gets her off her devices. We count the birds and squirrels, we look for all kinds of animals during our walks. I downloaded all trails an app that has the trails mapped out so we didn't get lost. This an excellent place for adults and children alike. There are plenty of benches along the paths so you can sit and relax for a moment. The trees provide a great shade to sit in while taking in all the beauty. I give it 5 stars as it just breath takingly beautiful and the butterfly garden is so ahhhh busy. So many flowers for the butterflies. The archways set up throughout adds a nice touch as well. Ohhh and the little bridges. Such a nice place.

I have many beautiful pictures of this place but my biggest disappointment is the inconsistent schedule of bathroom maintenance, trash left by shelter reserved guests, parents, coaches, and teams leaving trash behind. We always try to leave the park better than we found it. However, a subsequent visit after (6) days revealed; the same black plastic glove, multiple plastic serving cups, bathroom feminine receptacles, over flowing with trash and smell, stalls with no toilet tissue and of course sinks never cleaned properly. Be it a sports complex or a nature center, none is excusable as far as appearance or basic sanitation. Weeds, choking vines, kill plantings, and then mulch is thrown but not spread on a tree base that is removed days later. Nothing that is generously purchased is maintained. For example, front entry peony shrub, never cut back or dead headed which would take (2) minutes and should be completed end of May. Often trash isn't removed from grass and run over by mowers. Bathrooms have been shut down as early as 6:30 P.M. when dozens are still in park. If you question, belligerent response is given. If park closes at dusk, thus the Bathrooms too. I know a few people that have given time to this park early on, and clearly this wasn't their expectation. If operators are willing to think outside the box, I would be happy to compose a better review on all sites w/stellar pictures when Boone county hints at showing interest!

This place is beautiful, well-planned and well-manicured. There is a great new playground at the front of the park which is great for younger kids. There are many soccer and baseball fields and tennis courts. There are also walking trails throughout the park. There are paved trails and hiking paths through different sections of the woods. Throughout the park most of the intentionally-planted trees and plants are marked with a placard. This is one of my favorite places to go for a walk, especially during the changing seasons.

BEAUTIFUL park. I almost didnt make the trip out here after thinking "eh it's just trees what's so special" but wow was I wrong! loved this walk, plenty of space well maintained and mostly all flat paved walking trail SO MANY beautiful plants trees flowers shrubs and hundreds of unique species of trees and plants I didnt know existed. Almost every plant had a tag with a brief description. I brought my dog and she loved meeting the other dogs on the trail and exploring all the smells. I will definitely be back!

I've been wanting to come here for a-whiles. I know today was not the best time of year and/or weather day, but here I am. There were some trees in bloom that were gorgeous and, of course, the daffodils were up, but for the most part it's pretty early - yet. I could appreciate the paved trail that goes around the whole park and the children's garden and butterfly garden are pretty neat! I'll just have to come back in the spring/summer to see more trees and flowers in bloom :-)

This is such a great place to get away from the city and enjoy nature, great trails, and other outdoor activities. It's great all the trees are labeled. Homeowners in the area can learn about what plants grow in our plant zone. The facilities here are always clean. There is some sports fields in the Arboretum, so during some events parking near any feild can be difficult. There is generally parking available. Overall worth a trip!
