Start you day by visiting the three forest trolls and the troll nest at @aullwoodaudubon . There is a small entrance fee so ensure you stop by the visitors center to pay and get your sticker. 🍔After that hike grab dinner at the @trollpubdayton ! This place is a wonderful place for family. My son and I stopped by on our cross country vacation. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to visit with. The nature center building has professional displays, interactive centers as well as several well thought-out indoor and outdoor bird watching areas. Trails are a combination of blacktop, boardwalk, compacted dirt and the occasional mowed grass path. My son loved the fairy house hunt, the trails and of course the trolls. This is our second troll stop in the US (first one was in Maine’s coastal botanical gardens) and these trolls are truly placed in nature, tucked into the landscape as if alive. I recommend this place to anyone. Take the time and visit. Lastly, their educational facilities for day camps at the center and at the working farm looked awesome. I have taught several different nature camps in a different state and I am jealous of the facilities. If we lived in the Ohio I would get my own into one of the camps. ***fyi the Totoro in the fairy pic is our own addition as we bring it with us and get pics of it in various places. Well done Aullwood! Thank you for a fantastic visit.

What a magical place! When planning our trip to see the trolls I had no idea what we were in for! It turned out to be a treasure hunt through the forrest! The facility where you check in is beautiful with ample, clean bathrooms, educational activities, classrooms and a gift shop. There are two separate areas; the nest and Bibbi are at the check in facility side and Bo and Bodini are on the Farm side. You can walk between but it was extremely hot and humid so we drove to the farm. While the signage and even the map to find the trolls was of little assistance on our quest - we found the nest fairly easily but walked in circles looking for Bibbi. Then we headed over to the farm…fell in LOVE with all the animals! The signage for the trolls (if you know their names) was better on this side. We happily found them all! Tips: take a backpack with cold waters on a hot day!! Wear proper shoes!! If it rains, the mud gets very slick! Look for the fairy houses, too! Such a super fun place for kids of all ages! I wish we lived closer and I could bring my grandkids. I would 10/10 recommend for anyone that loves a nature trail and enjoys art.

One of the nice places to enjoy walking in nature. There is a shallow river that small feet can enjoy and get wet. Trails go around the river, which is the only paved trail, and from it go to prairie, farm, pond, or river walk. Those who love to sit and enjoy nature or listening to birds, there are many place to sit around the shallow river or porches around the center. There is a tower in the prairies about two stories in height. Even when going inside Aullwood Center, the enjoyment continues through different classrooms to have a closer look about what you encounter outside. There’s a tiny zoo of turtles, fishes, and snakes. Also, one can enjoy bird watching from inside. The place is so clean and the staff very friendly and helpful and they can explain and share some time with you. Admissions are $14 for adults, $7 for children, and a family membership is $50 a year for a family of 4. Parking is free and Aullwood Center daily hours are 10am to 5pm. I highly recommend the place to spend time with your family, kids, and friends specially if you love nature. I have a membership and my family and I go almost every two weeks.
