A scenic place with paddy fields surrounds the bridge before the gravel filled road to the forest if you're coming from Kuttiadi side. There is a ticket counter, and you'll need a valid photo ID proof for entry; remember to carry that. The people at the entrance warns NOT to enter the river; but can see an old, deteriorated and locked dressing room, and warning signs about a whirlpool for the swimmers. Also the obvious entrance with steps to the river is locked. Not sure what to make out of that. Could hear few people from the river; it was kind of deserted when we visited. Didn't venture into the river, since was not planning for that anyway. It's possible to walk several kilometers and still find some way ahead without much obstructions. Also there's more than one clear path to walk after where the paved pathways end. You'd find huge old trees, and big creepers growing on them, along with varieties of mushrooms and algaes. We found atleast three clear water streams leading to the river, parallel to each other, few hundred meters apart. It's very quiet, except for the repeating sounds of birds, mostly the kingfishers. But it was hard to find any birds in the view. Haven't seen any monkeys. Only animal to come across was a domestic cat. Beautiful place nevertheless, worth a visit with friends or family!

It's a calm and quite place to visit who loves nature and its beauty. Janaki Forest is situated adjacent to Kuttiadi river. The river flowing adjacent to the forest have neat cold water, fair stones and big rocks. Swimming in the river is dangerous as many accidents had happend earlier. This place is suitable for photoshoots. Roads in this area are very narrow and not suitable for big vehicles. Peruvannamoozhi dam is 3 KM away from Janaki Forest. Dam reservoir and its surrounding is also very beautiful. Boating through the dam reservoir is also available. Those who wish to swim with family / friends may visit Aquablue Swimming Pool, Chakkittapara, 5 km away from Janaki forest.

The Janakikad Ecotourism project is a true haven for nature enthusiasts, offering a unique and immersive experience in the heart of untouched wilderness. The journey begins at a distinctive ticket counter designed to resemble termite mounds, setting the tone for the natural marvels that await. The entrance gates, adorned with artistic animal figures, welcome you into this verdant paradise. Janakikad is a treasure trove of biodiversity, where every path reveals a new aspect of its rich flora and fauna. As you meander through the forest, you'll be surrounded by a lush canopy, perfect for a peaceful leafy stroll

If you are looking for a bit calm and quite natural place to spend your time with family or friends then choose it. Very beautiful forest area, however very safe. The ticket for an adult cost 30 Rs. There is less space for parking, it is free of cost. You can also spend time in the river with the permission of guide. There are areas with low water level where children can also swim (take proper precautions and a towel !). Lots of birds, monkeys etc. Carry a water bottle if you are ready to walk inside the forest.
