I have been coming to this park for about 25 years now and still enjoy visiting here. When I tube down the Dan River I usually stop at this park on the way out to swing on the rope swing unto the water and then have a picnic. Can be really crowded at times and at others you are all alone. Plenty of area to walk about and explore a little along the banks. Water is typically chilly if not cold throughout the year. I usually wait til about June through August to tube there. Has a shelter and some tables but needs an updated and larger playground for the kids. Maybe add some swings or something. 2 parkinglots available. A historic Iron furnace is also at the park in the lower parkinglot.

I traveled to Hanging Rock State Park and traveled to this park one day. I was disgusted by how unkept it was. There was trash all over the ground. Drinks bottles on the shoreline. The bottle caps from alcohol bottles were all around the picnic tables, and the charcoal grills had been dumped onto the ground. Also, rule #6 is wrong. It says park hours are from Dusk until Dawn. Basically, overnight. It should say from Dawn to Dusk. The Town of Danbury has let this place become an eyesore.

It’s always been a great place to relax. I practically lived for this park during the summer as a kid. The water is freezing of course but as an adult now I feel like that’s the best part 😂 Dipping my feet in after walking the trail on hanging rock was nice 😊 take your kids and enjoy! Be careful of the rapids 😊

Fun place to take the family. Has a shelter you can reserve, it’s free but you still have to call and set the date. Can get crowded but it’s still a great place. Has rope swings and a small beach area to play. Definitely wear water shoes, the rocks can be slippery.

We enjoyed a nice little pitstop at the park. There wasn't anyone there when we visited so it was a nice, quiet, relaxing spot. The current moves quickly on the river and provides a relaxing sound. There are picnic areas available and it was a clean space.

Beautiful setting. Only downside was trash that inconsiderate people threw on the ground and some rude people using foul language really loudly with children around. The river is great for swimming or tubing. The current is fairly strong.
