Lord Parasurama, according to mythology, consecrated the Sree Nagaraja Swami Temple in Vetticode. Hundreds of worshippers visit the temple at Kayamkulam in Kerala's Alappuzha district on a daily basis. Nagaraja and Nagayakshi are the main deities of the Sarppakkavu, which is situated on a six-acre plot of land in the midst of a lush green landscape. It is not just a safe habitat for snakes, but also for a variety of birds. The name Vetticode comes from the way Lord Parasurama piled up the sand with his axe. It is thought to be the first Naga Prathishtta in this land, giving rise to the concept of Aadimoolam. Its a relaxing place with calmness and beauty of the nature. The temple complex is situated in a six-acre area called Sarpakavu, surrounded by dense vegetation with healing properties. Fragrant breezes blow through, carrying the scents of flowers and chanting of Vedas and other sacred texts. People believe they can still hear echoes of footsteps and see movements of ancient sages. The air is filled with the smell of offerings like flowers, sandalwood, camphor, and ashtagandha. Lamps illuminate the temple, and music from various instruments fills the air, accompanied by chants. Devotees from all backgrounds gather here, creating a sense of unity. Sri Parameswaran Nampoothiri leads the temple's efforts for improvement. A divine experience! Must visit for all devotees, especially for those who has naga dosa. It is said that Vettikode nagaraja Temple came into existence much before Mannarshala nagaraja temple. Devotees can perform many pujas and offerings to the diety. Very well maintained especially the traditional values. Well. Connected by road and railway, nearest station Kayamkulam. Devotees should visit this temple and get nagaraja and nagayakshi blessings for themselves and for everyone in their family.
