The castle at Cape of Rodon is a must-see destination in Albania. This breathtaking castle perched on a cliff offers stunning views of the Albanian coastline and the Adriatic Sea. The castle is an almost-well preserved example of medieval architecture, and a visit here provides a fascinating glimpse into the country's rich history. The castle is surrounded by lush greenery and is a great place for a picnic or a leisurely stroll. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or just want to enjoy the natural beauty of Albania, the Rodoni Castle is not to be missed.
Tips and tricks: 1/ The road to Cape of Rodon is not maintained and a part of it is not asphalted. So make sure your vehichle is an appropriate one for off-road. 2/ Stop by at Rodoni Parking, at the end of the road. Leave your vehichle there and start a good walking towards the beach on your right. It is also known as "Rëra e Bardhë" (Eng. The White Sand) or "Plazhi i Shën Antonit" (Eng. St. Anthony's Beach). It is 3/ Enjoy a bit of the beach which is not very popular, thus most of the time you will be surrounded by only a few people. There are a couple of bars that offer drinks and snacks. Get ready for another walk on your left towards the end of the cape, nearby which stands the castle. The path to the castle is not a piece of cake. Sometimes you walk through sand, sometimes on sharp stones and rocks, but also through sea grass and unfortunately many times through trash :( If you do not want to slide, get an injury or even infection, wear appropriate stuff. 4/ When getting to the castle, you will be able to enjoy it a lot. You can have a small picnic there, sit on top of the ruins and make the best of it. Do not forget to bring a hat or a small umbrella to take cover from a hot burning sun. 5/ On the way back, I preferred hiking, which is not very difficult and offers breathtaking views from the top of the hill. However, the narrow trail is quite dangerous at some points, so do not take it for granted.

Read moreRodoni Castle is a beautiful place to walk to, but first you have to drive over a road with many holes and bad pavement. Than you come to entrance of the park where a very friendly guard will open the gate after payment. Than you drive to the parking place and walk for about 20 minutes through a beautiful area. It is not an easy walk because there are not easy stairs and different levels in the small road without stairs so if you are not so good in walking than it is very difficult to get there. The views of this walk are beautiful, especially the view on the castle. When you arrive at the castle you see the architecture of many years ago. I have to make one remark there is a lot of rubbish in the castle and surrounding. I really hope that this will be cleaned in the near future. It is shame that a beautiful place looks like this. On our way bad we took the road along the sea. It is a walk with a lot stones and sometimes you have to walk through the water. It would have been a beautiful walk but the trash on this road is so much that it is unbelievable. I just wonder why a beautiful place like this it not well maintained. It is a beautiful place to go if you can see...
