Stayed at a hotel in Bogovë and wanted to check out the waterfall. The walk from the town is about 2.3km (the start is at the road where the blue gate is and a small shop, before the bridge into town). Being a quick hike, we thought we would try it out based on previous pictures. But the pictures are not up to date. We were not impressed with this hike at all.
If you want to see for yourself: (If you are walking from town) Take the pavement road up about 1km until you reach the 2nd parking area for the waterfall. Here you will continue on a dirt path which has been taken over by the water plant. It's now a 4x4 road (not trail) and zero shade. The dirt road is lined with pipes for the water. It's not a pretty hike. I was looking forward to crossing the foot bridges that people have posted in here. They are all gone. Now they are concrete bridges for the trucks. All the charm has been taken away.
The waterfall area itself gets the 2 stars. If you like to jump into the water, it's 12m and deep enough for cliff jumping. The water is cold!!!! When we got there it was absolutely PACKED with people and we got there at 10:40. There were 3 big tour groups already in the water and on the rocks. More than 50 people in the small area was not the pleasent hike to a waterfall I was hoping for after spending a month in Albania and seeing soooo many...
Read moreOn our way back from the gorgeous Osumi Canyon, we stopped off for a quick visit to the Bogove waterfall. Not that I regret it, but I have to agree with some of the previous reviewers that there is no charm to this experience. Firstly it's a 4x4 gravel road (not a hiking path) with concrete "bridges" that goes uphill and provides no shade. The walk up there is longer than you expect and the sun is grueling. The small area of the waterfall is EXTREMELY packed with people, to the point where you have to wait for someone to step out of your way to hop onto the next stone. Teenagers jumping off the cliff into the deep part of the freezing water and other rocks full of people perched with their cell phones taking photos of the dare devils. We were hoping for a quiet natural spot, but got the opposite. There must have been at least 70-80 people there already including local vendors cooling off the beers and sodas in the stream. If you're already in the area and get there really early in the morning then maybe yes, but otherwise there are many much more amazing places quite nearby to explore without the crowds (Osumi Canyon...
Read moreEasy trail and nice waterfall, you can swim there but it is so cold. I was swimming in it today it was freezing but definitely worth the experience and it is really good for the body made a video about it on youtube (Maykel and Maaike). It is definitely one if the days that i will never forget. We were alone me and my girlfriend for a while so we had a good time also nice pictures and videos + swimming, one of the main reasons why we travel outside peak seasons to be alone cz in summer this place is packed with tours and people you can find up to 50person swimming in this small section so if you are more of an adventurous and you like to see the place out of season is definitely the best time, little colder up to 4 people you might meet and that is it. My advice you don’t want to miss out the swim there makes the whole day a different adventure. You park the car there is two parking one on the left and one on the right side a bit further on the road. When you reach the dirt road you park (parking 2) and walk all the way to reach the waterfall. Easy path...
