The Valbona Valley National Park is a national park inside the Albanian Alps in northern Albania. The park covers a total area of 80 km2, encompassing Valbona River and its surrounding areas with mountainous terrain, alpine landscapes, glacial springs, deep depressions, various rock formations, waterfalls and the Valbona Valley with its dense coniferous and deciduous forest.It is characterized by its very remote areas which have a large preserved ecosystem all of which is primarily untouched with pristine quality. This vast pristine ecosystem is the centrepiece of what has been referred to as the Albanian Miracle of the Alps.

In June of 2018 we wanted to go hiking from Valbona Valley to Theth. In order to do that we started from Prishtina and headed to Gjakova, from there we had to go to Bajram Curr and it was a fantastic adventure because we had to hitchhike all the way to Valbona Valley. That day was raining and the mountains were covered with the mist that made the mountains even more mystic that they are. We hiked for about 5 hours and we visited the famoes "Simoni Caffe" were the hikers stop for a warm tea and have some water and fill their bottles. From there we hiked till we reached Theth. Short to say, one of my best hikes ever.

Valbona National Park receives a well-deserved 5-star rating for its serene and natural beauty. the park has class mountain peaks and tranquil valleys, great for nature enthusiasts. The park's forests, rivers, and picturesque landscapes an ideal environment for visitors to immerse themselves in nature. There are some wonderful trails all over the park. Would recommend the walk from valbona to theth, takes a day and has terrific views from the top. We took the summer route when it was a bit frozen and snowy still, so there were a couple of sketch moments on ice faces, but it was enjoyable.

Очень красивый природный парк, в котором приятно заниматься треккингом и хайкингом и отдыхать на природе среди гор и леса. Добраться из Шкодера проще на такси чем на личном транспорте, организовать трансфер можно попросить администратора в любом хостеле или отеле. Выезд рано утром около 6.00 AM, дорога занимает около 4,5 часов, поэтому лучше заранее приготовить и взять с собой бутерброды или фрукты. В Theth жильё можно снять на месте без предварительного бронирования (октябрь) за 25 евро в сутки с ужином и завтраком. Тропа из Theth в долину Валбоны пролегает в направлении с запада на восток, т.е. до полудня подъем проходит в тени и после спуск по обратной стороне гор тоже, если правильно выбрать время начала маршрута. Спуск проходит по более крутой части тропы, поэтому лучше иметь трекинговые ботинки, для подъема подойдут кроссовки. Длительность прохождения около 7 часов, протяженность 16 км. Чтобы вернуться обратно в Шкодер из долины Валбоны обратитесь к персоналу хостела или отеля для покупки билета трансфера. Выезд в 11.00 утра, на пути следования потребуется сделать 2 пересадки. Микроавтобус довезет (время в пути 2 ч.) до паромной переправы по озеру Koman. Далее на пароме по горному озеру около 4 ч., паром оборудован отапливаемым пассажирским залом, на крыше также имеются сидячие места на открытом воздухе. Мест в отапливаемом зале недостаточно для всех пассажиров, поэтому многие вынуждены занимать места на крыше. На озере дует сильный холодный ветер, поэтому лучше одеть тёплую одежду и взять с собой шапку и шарф (снуд). Конечная остановка парома у плотины, где необходимо будет пересесть в автобус, который за 2 ч. доставит в Шкодер. Весь обратный путь занимает около 8 часов.
