This is oldest Shiva temple popularly known as Amareshwar Mahadeo It is located in the middle of high hills and is considered as a sacred temple. The Temple is one of the major religious attractions near the town of Sawai Madhopur with the beautiful green hills. Amareshwar Mahadeo is around 1200 years old temple as old as Ranthambhore Fort discovered past 300-400 years. To reach temple in early years was almost impossible because of dense forest all around. Till today one has to walk/drive for one km inside the forest area via Ranthambhore road. Later man made path was made. Shivarati is the day for Mela (fair) during day hours and Jagaran whole night. The temple is visited by a number of devotees who come here to pay their respects to the deity. Apart from its religious and historical significance, the temple has emerged as a major picnic spot for the residents of Sawai Madhopur with enchanting waterfall, nullah and beautiful groves in its vicinity during rainy season. There are different bath areas for men and women. The Temple attracts a number of tourists because of the surrounding natural beauty.

Its a very old temple and usually people visiting Ranthambore tend to skip it, but one of the oldest temples with a rich history. This temple is older than Ranthambore fort and it was a place of worship by the royal family. From the main road, temple is about 2 km inside deep dense forrest. No public Conveyance is available so come by your own car. Path to temple is a jungle way so ve prepared for off roading. From parking, there's about 200m walk and then about 80-100 stairs for temple. There're tooo many monkeys and other animals so be very cautious. Seasonal waterfall and lush greenery will surely win your heart. Don't roam randomly here n there, and be with other people all the time.. its a real forrest afterall.

Rain had receded by the time we visited in the month of October. The waterfall near the temple has got reduced to a little stream. It is located inside the forest, ofcourse not very much far from the main road. You may come across peacocks, monkeys, deer’s and other wild animals on the way. A broken road which leads you half way is motor able, and from there through a flight of steep steps, you reach the temple. Water seeping through the crevices drips over the Shiv linga in the temple. In the sidelines of the Visit to Ranthambore fort and safari, one can pay a visit to this place also.
