My wife and I visited Atilio Avena Winery on Friday 24/01/2025 and had a fantastic experience. We arrive around midday without a reservation but we we’re welcomed and the staff quickly arranged for us to have a tasting. We opted to taste 4 medium range wines for 18000 pesos each, which turned out to be amazing value for money. Julia professionally talked us through our tasting. All four wines we tasted were far better quality than wines we had tasted on an organised winery tour the previous week. Julia then informed us that, once the tutored tasting was completed we could ask for more of any or all of the wines we had tasted. Which was music to the ears of a couple from Scotland. The lunch/tour/wine tasting also looks fantastic. If we have the chance to return we will definitely do that. During our visit, Silvia came over to speak to us after she had finished her tour and we were offered the chance to try an Oaked premium Malbec and a Rosa wine, both of which were superb. We ended up spending three hours at the winery enjoying the wines and also the warmth of the staff. The experience turned out to be one of those great days, that will live in your memory for a long time. Thank you to Julia and Sylvia, sorry if I have spelt your names incorrectly. This was the first winery we visited in Mendoza, and they set the bar high. We decided on the basic wine tasting (15,000 pesos pp) and their 3 course lunch for 45,000 pesos per person (Feb 2025) Atilio Avena is more expensive than others we visited but absolutely worth it. The thorough explanation of the individual wine tasting, the presentation, and the flavour of the food were next level. Our English speaking host (sadly, I can not place her name) was excellent. We asked to take our time over lunch, and they were very obliging, giving us space and checking in before calling away our next course. Their attention to detail at every step was terrific. The winery looked locked from the outside, but it was not. Just go on through the tall gates, and the tasting room is on your left. If you are looking for an intimate, professional, full wine tasting experience, then this is the place for you. We had a wonderful time and would highly...

Atilio Avena offered hands down the best wine tour I’ve ever been on. Pablo led a private tour with my wife and myself through the beautiful vineyard, and showed us each stage of the production process. We also learned about the rich history of not only the Atilio Avena winery, but of the wine industry in Mendoza in general. The tour was packed with information, but it is kept to the perfect length so you are never bored. Pablo was able to answer all of our questions thoughtfully, and was a delightful conversationalist as he led us through the tour.

After our tour we had a tasting with two delicious wines, as well as the amazing olive oil they produce on-site.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit Atilio Avena on your...

We don’t speak Spanish so we weren’t sure what was in store for us. Booking on WhatsApp for lunch was easy and we got way more that just a lunch! We started with a glass of wine in the vineyard learning from Pablo about the winery. From there the wine flowed and the hospitality of Pablo and the rest of the staff was amazing. We recommend the vacío, tomato soup and pudín! This quality of the food and wine is high and would be considered fine dining. We stayed for 4 hours and drank 2 bottles between the 2 of us which was included in the tasting price! They have a no empty glass policy so the wine keeps flowing. Definitely carve out some time to include this in your list of things to do in Maipu.

Excellent attention and genuinely friendly people. We did not have a reservation, but was super happy to be allowed in for a tour and tasting. Our guide, was knowledgeable and really easy going, she made a few jokes. She spoke Spanish, but it was easy to understand as she also used gestures and facial expressions speaking with passion during her explanations. At the end of the tour, we tasted 4 different reds and 2 types of olive oils, and once again, our guide meticulously explained everything to us. To conclude the visit, the owners - a darling couple- came over and chat with us for a bit. We were introduced to 2 new wines and I must say... me encanta el numero 77 y Te veo en la fiesta !
