First of all we visited the bonfanti winery in summer 2021 and it was our favorite winery so we were very excited to return, but this time it was our least favourite. Why? We made a reservation a week ago and it was confirmed, but a day before we went we received a text that the inside of the restaurant would be full, so do we accept to sit outside, because there is no table inside for us, and the weather was going to be bad. (It was a cool autumn day, and rained earlier). I’m not sure how we didn’t get an option when we made the reservation to choose an inside table, when clearly the other people got to choose as they were given tables inside? And actually we arrived before many other people, and there were several tables empty inside. When you make a reservation for a restaurant of course you expect to get a table somewhere warm and dry, we didn’t think we would have to clarify and check to make sure about that, since they had accepted our reservation.
However we accepted to sit outside since we didn’t have a choice, and we planned our trip around having our reservation on this day. My wife got cold so we asked for a blanket or something that she may use to keep warm while we sit out. They brought a plastic table cloth. Thank you! We never got any refills of wine while we were eating, but all the other tables had several before they finished their glasses and yet everyone pays same price. They didn't even refill our water?? We were fully left outside by ourselves, and they didn’t check in on us except to bring our courses, but always ran back inside before we could ask anything else. While I was eating my main course my wine was finished, okay you don't give a refill to us sure, but may I buy one glass? Oh no I can't because there is no one around to order from. All the other tables got coffee after the food but we weren’t even offered coffee or tea, we were just given our bill immediately even before finishing our desert. We were very polite the entire time, always smiling and thanking the server warmly after we got each thing, but for some reason we were not welcomed there. It was not just a feeling we had, that was fully our experience.
The prices of bottles of wine are also higher when you compare with other companies, while checking and including vivino app reviews too.
So will we come back next summer to try it again? No, there are so many other wineries in Mendoza. But we are very disappointed to have...

We took the picnic "tour" on 3/7/24. The winery is small and attractive, with olive trees in addition to the vines, which made for a lovely afternoon. The tour for the picnics is only offered in Spanish and I was told it was quite informative and had new information that we'd never heard before. The tour had 3 key segments: the vineyard, the tanks/processing area, and the barrels/bottle storage and aging zone.
The picnic included a plate with cheeses, meats, some nuts and dried fruit as well as a basket of bread and some olive oil, and desserts accompanied by your choice of one of three designated wines. The chardonnay was a light easy to drink sweeter wine, perfect for the heat of a Mendozan afternoon. The price converted to $16 USD/pp, which is a good value for a snack or meal in this region.
The facility itself is quite modern, and easily accessible from Lujan de Cuyo, Maipu or Mendoza. On the negative side, the only "banos" available for visitors/guests had no toilet seat. The picnic itself was offered under an ancient olive tree, next to the tables for those paying for a multi-course meal. The resident dogs had used the tree as their toilet and the guides that told us we were to sit/spread our blankets under the tree didn't notice/try to remove it.
All in all, I’d suggest upgrading the experience to get an English speaking guide and a table to sit at that hadn’t been...
Read moreI didn’t see many reviews about the picnic ($4,500 pesos) so I thought I’d leave one. We started with a 40-minute tour which was intimate and informative, but felt quick. We made a stop in the vineyard, then by the tanks, then the barrels, and finally the bottling area. Then, we were walked out to an empty spot in the garden next to all the tables. It was cute and well organized, but we were the only ones and definitely felt like second class citizens. We would’ve preferred to either be more isolated so people weren’t looking “down” on us or to just have a table. The temperature was great but sitting still, we got hot very quickly. We asked for an umbrella and it took about 30 minutes. Other than that, the meat and cheese board was delicious. We got the sweet Torrantes and it was phenomenal. The focaccia bread was my favorite! Great...
