Khor Virab (Khor Virap Monastery) is definitely one of the amazing Monastery in Armenia as the view is just breathtakingly wonderful with the Mount Ararat in the backdrop. It very near to the closed border of Turkey, so expect that if you're a tourist your phone will receive a notification welcoming you to Turkey's mobile phone network operator as it happens to all of us when we were there. In the Monastery, you can go down to the underground confinement, however, we didn't try as we are afraid of the very narrow stairway. It's really worth visiting if you are in Armenia. Please be mindful and respect those who are praying when entering the Church.

It's a beautiful monastery located just near the Turkey border. You will get to see beautiful view of mount Ararat. It's open for visitors from 8 am to 7pm ( appx). We reached there on Saturday (Apr'23) morning. Once you park.. You will fins small outdoor shops of orange and pomegranate juice then passing through the souvenirs stalls then you need to take the staircase to reach the top were you will get the epic view of mountain and monastery. *There is paid washroom outside the monastery. Should be cleaned frequently as the footfall is good. You can clicks loads of pictures and make reelsš, it has fantastic magnificent backdrop of mountain.

It is a nice historical place. We visited the place on first week of March 2024. With cold weather and wind. You donāt have to pay anything for tickets. Entry is totally free. But you have to pay for parking. Parking collector shall come and ask you for money. The person at parking area asked 500AMD for parking. We have to park the car down and need to walk. It is walkable distance only. We can see the whole area from the top. There is an underground chapel inside the church. You can reach the underground chapel using ladder. On the streets you can buy souvenirs and handcrafted items.

I visited here along with Garni temple and Geghard monastery on a daytrip. This was the last of the 3 I visited and the one I knew least about but it turned out to be by far the best part of the 3. You get beautiful views of Mount Ararat in the distance while on inside you can climb down a long ladder down to a small room where the narrative goes the founder of Armenian church was held for over a decade in a pit full of snakes and vipers. The snakes are no longer there. Well worth the journey if you are able to do it.

Definitely one of the nicest monasteries in Armenia. It is at the Turkish border and in the background you can see the great Ararat mountain. You can park the car at the beginning and then walk a bit upwards. Parking cost me 500amd, not sure if this is the normal price, at other monasteries it was 200amd. The entrance to the monastery is free. Go a bit early if you want to avoid big crowds and make sure to read a bit about the monastery before visiting it. Thereās not a lot of information there.

Khor Virap is truly awe-inspiring, leaving you breathless! Standing in front of this ancient monastery against the majestic backdrop of Mount Ararat, I was overwhelmed by a deep sense of history and spirituality. The tranquil surroundings and the insight into Armenia's past make it an extraordinary experience. For those in search of a connection with Armenia's rich heritage and breathtaking views, Khor Virap is a destination that should not be overlooked!
