Azat Reservoir — Attraction in Lanjazat

Azat reservoir is a reservoir in Armenia, which is located in Ararat region, at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level. It was built near the Lanjazat village, on the Azat River. The reservoir is used for irrigation of the Ararat valley, where the irrigated agriculture is developed. The Azat reservoir has been put into operation since 1976. Its volume is 70 million cubic meters. The territory of the reservoir is very beautiful. The sky and clouds are reflected in the water and, depending on the time of day, they give the reservoir a unique look. The Yeranos Mountains rise around the reservoir.

Azat Reservoir is a beautiful place to visit if you love camping, hiking or fishing. The water and the mountains around the place are so awesome. Many people go there in the weekends for camping and fishing carp from the Reservoir. You need a good car or a 4 wheel to get closer to the water from the main road which is about 300 to 500 meters away. Make sure to take everything with you before going there, because there are no trees to hide from the sun, and bring enough water and food with you. Important notice: the mobile signal is too weak in that area Therefore make sure to tell someone else about your trip there incase...

It’s one of the best driving experience we had while going to this place. Last few miles are off road so be careful if you are driving Sedan car but it’s worth to explore.

Driving on top of mountain is a different experience. Lake is on very high altitude which gives peace of mind. Not many people visiting this place.

It’s better to visit on or before sunset if you are new to the surrounding or visitor.
