I really enjoyed it. To be honest there's not much left of the fortress but the walks along the 2 rivers and the views of the gorge are very special. I saw a few foxes along my walks too which was awesome. Definetely recommend visiting if you're driving through or using Vanadzor as a base. There's plenty abandoned buildings you wander through and explore too. Advice if you are walking by the river and in a gorge wear long pants and long sleeve as today there were plenty of spiders and thorny foliage.

There were two facts that excited me the most about great Lori Berd fortress. (1) is the secret spiral passage made thru the rocks from the central part of the fortress down to the bottom of the canyon (2) is the cow in the canyon that I have absolutely no idea how it happen to get there and I really hope she will make it back. The fortress itself (imaging 30m tall walls) and the views are out of this world. Must see, must go! 🙌🏼

An absolute waste of time and money. The major part of the site is unexcavated, covered with grass and hogweed. So be prepared to walk on the ground paths through the fields. The cliffs are fenced, so instead of a view you'll see the ugly rusty bars. The guy at the box office was very unwelcoming. Don't recommend visiting this place even if you're passing by. There are dozens of better sites across Armenia.

Great castle! The place is surrounded by the rivers Dzoraget and Urut (Miskhana). Thus, it is guarded by the nature from three sides, making it a great place for protection! Inside the castle you can see two medieval baths the clay tubes of which are still visible. Also, you can see a medieval building which used to be a place where meetings were held. It was transformed into a mosque. Now it is a church. But you can still see the mihrab inside which shows the direction to Mecca! Must-see site if you are travelling in these marvelous parts of Armenia! P.S. There used to be a secret passageway in this castle. It was leading the people down to the river! Also, don't miss the bridge...

A disappointing visit and not worth the time or money.

The majority of the site remains unexcavated, with overgrown grass and hogweed. Expect to navigate uneven ground paths through the fields. The cliffs are fenced off, which unfortunately blocks the view with unattractive rusty bars.

The person at the box office was quite unwelcoming, which added to the overall negative experience.

I wouldn’t recommend stopping here, even if you’re passing through. There are plenty of more worthwhile sites to explore...
