This unusual monument to the Armenian alphabet has already become a must have for tourists to visit and is constantly updated with new monuments. For example, they promise to build a glass church. In general, this is another visiting card of Armenia😉 The Armenian alphabet was created by Mesrop Mashtots in 405. Initially, the alphabet consisted of 36 letters, of which 7 transmitted vowels, and 29 - consonants. It is believed that the Armenian letter was largely formed on the basis of Aramaic writing. Modern Armenians cannot read most of the ancient graffiti on the walls of temples, since earlier numbers and numerical digits also denoted letters of the alphabet. That is, it is not clear each specific letter corresponds to a sound or a number. Only scientists are able to decipher...

Near the city of Aparan, on the rocky hillside, an unusual museum was created - a park dedicated to the Armenian alphabet. The park was built in 2005 on the occasion of 1600 years of the birth of the Armenian alphabet. Alphabet monument is supposed to be a tourist attraction however it missed out to impress me. The place more looks like a ruins and need a major uplift. The views from here are amazing however this monument doesn’t have a feeling of a historic place and there are no boundaries covering it. It’s a good place to see if you are a tourist and walking past it, however can skip it if it’s not on the way.

This monument is worth a visit if you happen to be on the way, it will take you less than 10 minutes to check out the place. The monument is located in the middle of nowhere so you must arrange for your transportation, e.g. book a cab from Yerevan to go and return. We covered this attraction in our last day as it’s one of the least important attractions
