Zorats Karer, also known as Karahunj, is an awe-inspiring ancient site in Armenia, believed to be even older than Stonehenge. Located near Sisian, this collection of standing stones dates back thousands of years, with some estimates placing its origins as far back as 7,500 years ago. The site is thought to have been an astronomical observatory, with some of the stones featuring holes that align with celestial bodies.

The atmosphere at Zorats Karer is both mysterious and serene, making it a must-see for anyone interested in ancient history and astronomy. The surrounding landscape adds to the experience, offering stunning views that enhance the sense of connection...

Hungry abandoned dogs (around six of them) and the person that is in the entrence doesn't seem to be feeding them, they were very skinny. It' s hard to see such cruelty in such a beautiful country. It's not that hard to have the dogs fat and happy, just saying. I hope someone local reads this and helps them properly (we could only give them something to eat). Please spay at least the female dogs.. there was a momma dog with some...

A very interesting archeological monument. A must-see for everyone interested not only in history of Armenia but also the whole Caucasus and Central Asia. The entrance fee is 1500 AMD per person. You can buy the ticket at the cashier box. I recommend taking also a look at the selections of books available for purchase. There is at least one in English that presents a comprehensive study of the monument.
