Great park, summit trail is challenging enough without being painful to ascend. Some uneven ground and loose terrain, bring good shoes. View from the summit is great though. If you take the Ghost Gully trail towards the end of the summit trail you extend your journey a little bit but the walk is very pretty. The path does narrow a little bit. Saw multiple groups of Kangaroos, especially along the ghost gully trail.

Amazing trails with great views and beautiful wildlife. Saw a koala and mobs of kangaroos! There are opportunities to volunteer with Friends of Blackhill to help remove the olive trees from infiltrating the ecosystem of native bush plants and trees in the area. The birds and other animals are reliant on the native trees for their habitat.

Driving past, I misread the Orchard track sign as Orchid.. It become obvious when we stopped and walked the Orchard track and Eagle track loop. It is quite steep at places but rewarding with stunning views. The orchids were near the top of the hill and there are echidnas near the eastern margin of the park.

I visited this park on Saturday 18 October 2025 but the vehicular access gates at Maryvale Road and Montacute Road were both closed . Google Map said it is opened on weekdays Monday to Friday only but the park's official website said they open daily.

I parked my car outside and walked to the vehicular gate to check out if I can get in by walking. Unfortunately the gate didn't have any sign which advised me that I can still visit the park while the gate is locked and most importantly there was no pedestrian gate which allowed me to pass-through. In order not to treapass into the park, and in fact I didn't see anyone were visiting the park, so I left the site.

If a park only opens from Monday to Friday, then the usage is narrowly allowed to students and retired people?! Did I go to the right place as perhaps the gates were closed to restrict access to the park's office?!

Very difficult for me to understanding what was happening in this park but I don't think I will return again. I know this is a huge Park, perhaps I will pass-through again their other gates on the hills in future weekends so that I may check-out by that occasion when the...

Enjoy the undulating hills with native scenery of rugged ridges and a variety of native plants and animals along Black Hill Conservation Park's extensive network of walking trails. The park contains a wide variety of flora that offers a stunning display of native flowers in the spring including many delicate and colourful orchid species. While visiting the park, take a walk through the landscaped Wildflower Garden that dates back to the late 1940s. The park covers an area of 684 hectares and features the low sheoaks which give Black Hill its name. The foliage of the sheoaks gradually matures to a dark rusty, almost black colour, as summer progresses. As you look from the Adelaide Plains, the hills appear to be...

Decent local park. Reasonable range of walks and quite a bit of wildlife. Some of the walks are quite rough in sections which adds to the enjoyment. There are a few little side tracks which usually contain surprises. It's disappointing to see the remnants of what this place used to be like as it's left to break down. Wildflower garden as one example which is just some poorly maintained trails around many dead and dying plants. What a waste. Watch out if the have a running or orienteering event on as they say no heed to others and you can tell for sometime after they have been through by the trail...
