It’s a good park to go to and go for a walk through the pine forest. It is bigger than it looks, it goes way up the hillside. There’s not any designated walks, I don’t think, so you just kind of walk through wherever you want. But the tall pine forests is really nice 😎 it shades the area, but still bits of light shining through. Never tried it, but it would be a REALLY good place to play capture the flag or chasey or even hide and seek. We found 3 spots that look like bases, one was a treehouse just outside the forest on the grass hillside. One was a fort built at the bottom of the hill and one was a little shelter built on the hillside. So yeah, someone should try that. It’s kind of disorienting because it’s all pine trees, but that would make it more fun I guess! But still hard to get lost, if you think you’re lost, just go down the hill until it becomes a big open grass field. That’s where the car park is. But if it has rained, then be careful, because it gets REALLY slippery in the mud. It gets the most muddy at the bottom of the hillside, near the creek and you DO NOT want to slip, because you will either get REALLY muddy, or fall into the blackberry bush. So just don’t go where it’s muddy, and you will make it out alive,...
Read moreLooks like someone fenced off the last lot of trees in blackwood, called it a park, and left it to rot. There is dead wood everywhere and across paths. It would take a week to pave some nice walking trails through the forest, and maybe two or three days to plant some new saplings in the open fields - it appears as though no-one has planted new growth here in 50 years.
The rubble of an orchard home is not an attraction. If the management refuses to even lift a finger to protect the park, then consider returning it to traditional owners who would do an exponentially better job.
So much potential, so...
Read moreReally charming, tucked away reserve, with a magical feel. Disregard negative reviews, this park has a lost in time, rural, natural feel - not all schmicked up, but like a country wander, complete with historic old structures, open fields, and the pine forrest on the hill. Revegetation is taking place right now, 1000 trees, to return some native species. Fallen wood is there for a purpose, it is habitat for creatures. Peaceful and quiet, you can feel like you've stumbled into another place or time, still a bit wild, with solitude...
