We arrived just after 10am that morning to find that there were one or two young males already sitting under the shelter in an attempt to hold the area. When we asked them to move on as we held the booking, they did so with no hesitation. We continued with our set up, and I closely watched as their group grew to 2/3 times the size of our party.
From about 12:30 (half an hour after my guests had arrive) they were lighting up to 14 BBQ, as can see in the pictures attached in this email. I wasnt overly joyous with knowing how close some of these BBQs were to your trees, and imedently informed my friend who works for the City of Enfield/Port Adelaide that I feel she needs to get intouch to the Sailsbury Council on my behalf if they got bigger.
By about 1:00, I had family members calling on my behalf to complain to either City Council or the CFS as to the fact of the volume of smoke and the lack of cooking. In one image I've shared with you, there is clear evidence of males fanning open charcoal BBQs with cardboard. We were understanding as it was fire season (as per your sign on the side of the structure you hire out) charcoal/open BBQs are banned.
This continued well after both council members and SAPol had talked with different groups. I managed to catch the 2 officers before the left and they told me per the City's guidelines there was nothing legally wrong. This shocked all my guests and I, as we had clear signage telling us otherwise. We also by this time had discussed that if the men that were holding the shelter prior to us arriving didnt move, there would be up to 5 open BBQs cooking in an inclosed shelter.
Due to the lack of support by council members and SAPol, guest had to begin to leave after only an hour of being there due to their worries of smoke inhalation for young children. We also had young adults who had to leave prematurely due to Asthmatic problems, one choosing to not leave but had to remain inside the facilities with a mask. As host, i began packing up an hour and 15 minutes early as i could see my guest werent enjoying themselves, with the last cars packed and driving off an hour before the part was scedualed to finish at 4pm. During all of this, the other members of the park were still cooking. (We had been told by SAPol they would be done by 2.30)
I am very sad that we were unable to enjoy family time and celebrate a birthday where I had spent money to hire facilitates. I am also upset that even with clear signage, and having both your council members and SAPol make visits, they were allowed to continue hurting the other family gatherings at the park that day. I also wish to inform you that not only was my function affected but also 3 quarters of the entirety of the park that surrounds...

Read moreA group went for a morning catch up. There were multiple groups from schools arriving for playtime during school holidays. Despite how many were there, there was still plenty of room on the equipment and well kept grassy area for everyone. There was shade and areas to sit. Tables and chairs are also available. A canteen was open. Didn't use toilets so cannot comment on them. Excellent place to go with a group of friends or family members regardless of age or ability. There are two entry areas . The northern entrance is seemingly wheelchair friendly with lightly graveled pathways , whilst the southern entry would be a steep descent onto grass knoll. Plenty of...
