The attitude of the person over the phone was dishonest, we have booking for helipad camping ground to celebrate our friend birthday over the weekend and the weather is going to be 50km wind and raining the whole time.

We called the park to ask if could rebook for next week or get refund due the weather, the person was rude to me over the phone and said straight away no refund and if you want to rebook for next week, needs to pay again. we also asked for advice about how the weather would be the answer was “come anyway” knowing the weather is going to be horrible for camping. No tents can hold 50km wind, gumtree drops branch’s all the time in weather like that and the answer is “come anyway” so for me this person should not be working on a National park, she have no idea what she is doing.

I’m writing this complaint not because of the refund but yes for the attitude of the person which was rude and dishonest with me.

The camping is $204 for 2 night which is ridiculous expensive for an open area and the toilet.

It’s unacceptable treat your guests like that. I def won’t...

We walked most of the tracks at one time or another. The park is hot during the summer, the paths have steep sections and Mine Track is slippery when wet. Some tracks to vantage points are dead end, leave extra time to backtrack. It is still worth it. There are short, easy walks around the lake and around the picnic area and along closed roads but the best views are from the tracks. Vegetation varies depending how much water and sunshine they get. There are insects eating the plants and plants eating insects, mostly sundews. Birds like company, most can be seen close to the picnic areas. The Barossa Inlier is exposed, these are 1.5 billion year old granites and gneisses. Edit: There is a nice stop where Humbug Scrub road crosses the South Para river. Edit: So many walks! Seen an emu not far from the lake and ther are mosquito...

Great place to camp with friend or family. Nearly all sites have fire pits so bring your firewood. Fits car campers with tents all the way to caravans and big cars with awnings, just check which of the sites suit your needs. As expected, muddy during rainy seasons but great if there's some sun. Sinks and taps are recycled water, runs brown so not suitable for drinking but ok for cleaning utensils if you have your own water to rinse it off. If you're lucky you won't have loud company blasting ridiculously loud music like I did or children constantly trying to be heard. Please be mindful and respect other campers there. Nice river scenery you could visit and hiking trails you could walk along. Would go again on warmer months and during week days if you got time off to avoid...

This place is a hidden gem of South Australia and the Northern suburbs. My family have frequented Para Wirra for over 35 or more years and I've seen the park change alot over the years. I'm both pleased and dissapointed at the introduction of camping sites on one hand it's great for people to experience on the other hand it has taken away picnic spots and family areas but I do understand the parks need to stay viable. On a recent trip there to honour my deceased grandfathers memory I was pleased to still see Emu's wandering around the park something we have very fond memories of from when I was younger. Thanks for keeping this park up and running and for continually providing a place for us to relive family memories.
