Sturt Gorge Recreation Park is a hidden gem just 13 km south of Adelaide’s CBD, offering a stunning mix of rugged landscapes, native bushland, and geological wonders. The park's diverse network of trails caters to all levels, from leisurely walks to challenging hikes and mountain biking adventures. The River Trail and Upper Sturt Gorge River Circuit are particularly rewarding, featuring river crossings, rock scrambling, and breathtaking views .

Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the park's rich biodiversity, including koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, and a variety of bird species like kookaburras and Adelaide rosellas . The presence of ancient rock formations, such as the 800-million-year-old Sturt tillite, adds a unique geological significance to the area .

Facilities are well-maintained, with clear signage and designated trails for both walkers and cyclists. Dogs are welcome on-leash, making it a great spot for pet owners . However, be prepared for some steep sections and limited shade in certain areas, so bringing water and sun protection is advisable.

Overall, Sturt Gorge Recreation Park offers a perfect escape into nature without straying far from the city. Whether you're seeking adventure or tranquility, this park delivers an unforgettable...

This was my first time hiking Sturt Gorge. We took the wattle track. Roughly 2hour hike. Very nice walk it would be gorgeous in the autumn and/or spring time. Plenty of Birdlife, we heard what sounded like a family of kookaburras laughing away together. We seen roo poo on the track So if your quiet enough you may even see one or two 😁 the view from the dam wall is stunning and don't forget to shout "ECHO" when you get to the top (my 20month old loved it) It's definitely worth packing some snacks and plenty of water...

I thoroughly enjoyed walking🚶 along the Gorge/River trail 🍃 via the Parrianna Track with my mate. It was exhilarating! The trail (leading down the Sturt River) was clearly defined and ran close to the river itself providing easy access to the shallow water. The trail was surrounded by tons of healthy green trees 🌳 that provided plenty of shade which was accompanied by tranquil sounds of birds chirping, lizards 🦎 rustling🍂, and water flowing 🏞. Perfect for people aged over 10 since the first decline...

Another dogs paradise 15 minutes from Adelaide. You’re welcome. Side note: There is a sneaky moment I let flash off the lead to go for a quick dip. #fyp #foryoupage #foryou #dogs #puppies
