The dirty and disorganised experience!

As a group of 4 patrons we went Saltram. The tasting room was not overly busy but the staff appeared overwhelmed and disorganised. When seated and got to the tasting the staff rushed us barely making eye contact. Making the initial encounter awkward.

Asking questions about the products available were met with short, dismissive answers. Staff were unable to answer basic questions about the wines, the winery's history, or the region. The lack of authenticity is abundant. Very obvious that staff are reciting information versus speaking from personal experience. It was impersonal and robotic and lacking genuine enthusiasm.

I had a look on the website and tasting notes available after the wine tasting. Its just reiterated information. Staff should be able to articulate their understanding of the wine in their own words, creating a more engaging and memorable experience.

When asking about possible function and event information we could not get any relevant information or speak to an event coordination. We were told to look at the information online instead. As a person who works in hospitality this was a genuine lost business opportunity.

Cleanliness was an issue, our table was dirty and sticky and our glassware streaky. The restrooms are unclean and poorly maintained. The overall impression is one of neglect and a lack of attention to detail.

The entire visit was a negative cellar door experience. Ultimately, good cellar door experience I’ve encountered in the Barossa are welcoming, informative, and enjoyable. Do not recommend! Staff poorly trained, lack or product knowledge and poorly maintained facilities.

Go to the local BWS/Liqourland for a quality experience. Extremely poor quality wines to what Saltran charge for tasting. Surrounding smaller wines that focus on high calibre of wines and lower yields charging around the same price...

A BIG JOKE! READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS and GO ELSEWHERE! Last week, we visited Saltram Wines for a wine tasting experience as part of our hop on and hop off tour. Boy, how I wish I read the negative reviews prior! Echoing the others. We arrived around 2-3pm last Thursday and the lady behind the counter never bothered to greet or welcome us. She completely ignored us, we are the ones approaching the bar. With no hospitality and proper introduction, she kept on mentioning a bus of 20 people are arriving anytime soon. If we are still keen with the wine tasting, just know that we will be surrounded by 20 other people. She also kept on asking us to pay for the wine tasting. She didn't even ask which wine we are tasting. Saltram, are you some kind of cheap and mainstream winery? Why are you employing people like her to be your ambassador? With such way of welcoming guests, might as well tell us to go to the winery next door. This is the first time I am saying this, but she should be fired! She's giving the winery a bad rep. The place was strictly divided into two - the restaurant and the wine tasting area. You can't do the wine tasting at the restaurant and vice versa, you can't order food while you're in the wine tasting area. Such unnecessary stress! We decided NOT to do the wine tasting due to such appalling attitude. The young lady at the restaurant listened to our grievances about our experience and she was the one who literally did the service recovery. From the look and sound of it, this is not an isolated incident. Saltram, you don't know who is walking into your cellar door. Hospitality is the least you can provide. Please get the team to visit Penfolds, Henschke and Yalumba to learn some hospitality. We will never buy any of your wines and will suggest the same to all our friends. To whoever responding to this review, if you're just going to copy and paste your reply, don't...

Grab ur popcorn, get a wine cause here we go.... 1.You dont loose the customers one month in advance booking šŸ“…šŸ¤” Dont make them sit there with no contact or even a menu for over 15mins 🤨 At 25mins since entry, Dont make the customer move their seat towards the middle of walkway just to get staff's attention to order. (Starting to get a bit parched) 🤤 Dont take a food & beverage order and then forget about the customer. 😠 (Intermission - go to the loo, fill up ya glass.. theres more..) No eye contact šŸ‘€ with customer must be standard policy (they might want something!) Watch the entertainment of 15 people walk out after the same treatment šŸ‘£šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™‚ļø Only thing on the table was Water & that was room temperature (now im just being a b@#% cause im angry)😔 Watch people who came in after us get their drinks & starters 🤬 After 49mins with not even a 1st drink we walked outšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļøšŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø Moral of the story. The wines were okay, but the tasting board was the best value and most impressive plank of deliciousness I've ever come across. That's saying something, because I'm an old man, and have had enough of them to choke a dozen donkeys. Saltram's grazing board had a huge slab of French D'Argental, which you never see. It also had a fantastically tasty chorizo and all of that for 50 dollarydoos. We couldn't believe it. Drop whatever you're doing (even if you're in labour) and go here immediately.

Absolutely divine lunch setting in the private cabana. Had a 3 course tasting menu with ample delicacies ranging from charcuterie board with pickles to braised beef and charred broccolini, finishing with Eton mess. Fantastic service and gorgeous private setting looking out onto the property. Couldn’t recommend this place higher for your winery lunch! Absolute 5* experience, will be back! Great recommendation from my colleague :)

Turned up at 3pm and as it wasn’t busy we thought it would be good. The lady (think the winemakers wife?) sat us down and immediately felt like we were a burden. Not much conversation or answering questions and quite robotic. Now, the young man who took over halfway was absolutely brilliant and the remaining wines were explained carefully and helped with the tasting. The sparkling Shiraz was excellent.
