Skimstone — Attraction in Apple Tree Flat

We booked accommodation in their guesthouse. Booked in December for a stay in May - the visit was for the Mudgee Classic bike ride and we knew that all accommodation sells out in Mudgee for this - hence we booked well in advance. In late Feb they cancelled our booking say they had double booked us. We were then left without any accommodation for the bike ride and there's no accommodation available in the Mudgee area that would fit us (or we would have to pay ridiculous amounts). I don't understand how they could have 'just noticed' its double booked - 3 months after we booked it. Very dodgy practises, I would not recommend booking with them - you can't guarantee they will honour your booking and you could be left without...

The wines were beautiful. We were prepared to buy a few bottles, but after being told that buying “a couple” of wines would cover the tasting fee the owner then insisted that we buy 1 carton per person to comp our $15pp wine tasting fee, so we left empty handed. Every other winery we attended was more than happy to allow us to buy 1-2 maybe 3 bottles to comp that fee but were all upfront about the cost.

Now the owner replies and lies about their policy. If we had been told on arrival that the cost was the cost and not waived, we still would have bought wine. But we were lied to then and he is lying now. More than happy to support viticulture if the vineyard is upfront about the fees, but what I don’t tolerate is being lied to...

Skimstone Wines offers a truly idyllic escape. The breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside are simply stunning and provide the perfect backdrop for a leisurely afternoon.

We enjoyed a delicious cheese platter, expertly curated with a delightful selection of flavors. The service was impeccable, with friendly and knowledgeable staff making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Of course, the wines were the star of the show, and we were impressed by the variety and quality on offer. While the wine selection could be slightly more expansive.
