Just amazing - restorations are done quite well throughout the whole exhibition and are to me very good representative in terms of history. Also - I would like to ad - the history about Toots Holzheimer really got to me. As an Norwegian truck driver I could easily relate to here work being a female under harsh conditions. I've also visited Australia's top end - Cape York using a motorbike which really gave me some perspective on how Toots life must have been a struggle on a day to day basis. What a female pioneer in a mans world. Also the story about the AUS postal service and struggle getting the mail out into the outback - where the story about Tom Cruise where presented very well. In terms of future, I sure hope the government will support in any way possible as this museum is a fantastic historic reminder about Australia and the men and women that pioneered the land. I also will give kudos to the guides that work there - without them the museum would not have been as great...

I have seen a few transportation museums in my time, the Yukon Transportation Museum in Whitehorse Yukon Territory Canada, Southwards Car Museum in Paraparaumu in New Zealand and the Museum of Vehicle Evolution in Shepparton Victoria Australia. This National Road Transportation Hall of Fame &Old Ghan Train Museum is world class. I was just amazed at the caliber of the exhibits both new and old. It's not just old vintage trucks there's a whole building full of modern trucks and engines. The information about trucking history in Australia is comprehensive and so many of the original vehicles on display. There is a souvenir shop there that sells clothing and stubby holders as well as heaps of other cool stuff. I spent a couple of hours here but in all honesty, if you're going and you want a serious look around I'd estimate 3 to 4 hours, there's that much stuff here. Really easy walking to get around and toilets available too. I think there is a cafe...

Museum was okay but we went on a Sunday and got there it was closed. Signs said “open 7 days”! Went back Monday, it was open but as my wife can’t walk far she said she will wait in cafe and have a snack… it was closed but signs said she will”open 7 days”. I suggested to the receptionist that perhaps a sign attachéd to the main sign on highway Indicating open or closed. She got her back up and said it would cost thousands! I’ve been in volunteer organisations with signs and it cost us a couple of hundred to have open or closed signs that flip over in 10 seconds to let the travelling...

A fantastic and surprisingly large museum! There’s so much to see – far more than we expected. The exhibits are varied and well-presented, offering a real journey back in time through Australia’s transport history. I visited with my two young children, and we all had a great time. The kids especially loved the big sandpit, and the wide, open layout meant they could move around freely and safely. It’s a very family-friendly place with lots to explore at your own pace. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in vintage vehicles or Australian outback history!
