Canning Dam — Attraction in Ashendon

On a nice day this is a very pleasant spot to visit. Located a little further among the same road as Araluen Canning Dam has two carparks to choose from. The first one is a short walk through the bushland to the base of the damn wall, also located here is a picnic area with several tables with seating. Toilets are also located at this first carpark. A short drive along the road you'll find a second carpark (no toilets or seating) with stone work stairs leading up to the top of the Dam wall. Nice drive on the Canning road off tonkin hwy route lots of winding roads and heaps of hills tho . I found it to be quicker on the Brookton hwy route. And more direct!

Righto Canning dam is very Beautiful beware that the steps off the carpark are a little steep & only a single rail for Surpport once u get to the top it's very flat surface too walk on with very good smooth walking . Stunning water and Bush View !

Be aware of other Cars whilst travelling to and from as the roads are very narrow ! Plse use headlight for bit more...

Its a very nice and beautiful spot. The drive up here is very scenic. There is plenty of parking. There are one or two picnic areas. There are tables etc for seating. Toilets are also available. The gates to the dam close at 5 PM. Overall a very good spot to spend 1 or 2 hours to enjoy nature and the views. Water is very clear and with lush green trees on the hills and the cloud formations, the views...
