Myself & my husband have a strong connection with Australia & in 2015, decided to marry in Adelaide where our friends live. We travelled from our home of Guernsey in the Channel Islands to celebrate this day to remember with family & friends. Finding the perfect winery to hold our wedding ceremony & reception was without a doubt our biggest challenge, especially from 11,000 miles away! After hours of Internet searching, we came across the beautiful Nepenthe winery, with its proud standing gumtree & charming cellar door. We knew the moment we saw this place, it was right for us. It truly was a day to remember, stunning scenery, fantastic wine & food surrounded by loved ones. 10 years later, we decided there was no better way to celebrate our milestone anniversary than by returning to Nepenthe. When reaching out to the team to make arrangements for the day they were super helpful & extremely welcoming of the fact we were returning after such a long time. We booked online for a wine tasting at the bargain price of $15pp to be followed by a picnic & mezze on the stunning lawn, at the incredibly reasonable price of $87 (this included a bottle of wine!). From the moment we arrived at the newly lovingly renovated cellar door, we were welcomed with open arms like family by the whole team. We brought back with us a very well travelled bottle of Nepenthe Shiraz, our choice of Red that was served on our wedding day, that we had saved a bottle of for 10 years for this special occasion to be decanted at the end of our wine tasting. We appreciated this was an unusual & out of the norm request, but the team were more than accommodating and understanding. As if the above wasn’t perfect enough, we were introduced to the amazing Ben who hosted our wine tasting. We cannot thank him enough for making an already wonderful experience truly magical. From the moment we engaged, he took us on a journey, not only of wine, but great memories & all things fun. Ben was charming, knowledgeable & extremely passionate. We loved talking with him about all things, wine, Nepenthe, Adelaide Hills and more! It was our absolute pleasure to invite Ben to share a taster of our lovingly kept 10-year-old Shiraz & was a truly special moment for us all. To end the afternoon myself & my husband enjoyed the delicious & ample picnic together on the lawn over looking the gumtree where our ceremony took place. As we departed to head back to the city at the end of the day we both felt like we did on our wedding day! Full of great memories & happy times. Thank you so much to Ben and the whole team at Nepenthe for all your hard work & passion. You made our day truly memorable. Hopefully see you guys for our 20th wedding anniversary! With all best wishes Gemma & Graham...
Read moreIf you haven't visited this place yet, you're truly missing out! Nepenthe has excelled in their renovations with this venue. It's Instagram-worthy!! Featuring rolling hills of lush greens and vines. You can enjoy various seating options, whether it's relaxing on the sunbeds on the green area, lounging by the cozy wine barrels, experiencing the class and elegance of the dining space, or sitting on the balcony overlooking the vines. It's a delightful experience, if it's a cold day they even have stunning fireplaces to keep you warm! The staff are exceptional, you can tell the team structure has been designed and developed with the wine enthusiasts in mind, very friendly and helpful and ready to chat and make your wine experience a memorable one! A special mention for the fantastic team led manager Ashlee, she brings the staff together seamlessly and should be recognised for her amazing team management skills. If you're seeking a laid-back Sunday session with specialy selected food trucks and live music, this venue should be at the top of your list. Adelaide offers a plethora of options, but this location is a must-see for both out-of-town event-goers and locals alike. Kudos to the team for their incredible work – it truly shines!...
Read moreLet me start by saying David was great and was very run off his feet. While we did not have a booking I feel 90+ mins for a tasting is a bit excessive. The reason for really bad score is more for the response to me giving this feedback in person. I expressed my disappointment with the long duration to which the lady (only one with out a name tag) said they were two staff short and tables had bookings. No apology just an attitude and an excuse. When we walked in Natalie asked if they would accommodate walk ins to which the person with the poor attitude replied with sure. They did not set the expectation of being short staffed or to expect a delay for the tasting. The lady also said at 4:50pm we had to finish our tasting and make a purchase as their liquor license only covers them till 5pm. At this time we were still waiting for our final glass for tasting as David was serving other tables. So we felt very rushed considering we were not late arrivals (arrived at 3:30pm). If they are short staffed and cannot provide a quality service they should have...
