We must have visited on an off day, because it seems from these reviews that most other people loved it here, but unfortunately I wasn't impressed.
We visited for lunch last Saturday, and were seated on the deck, which has absolutely stunning views! It was great to be sheltered from the weather while still being able to enjoy the view.
However, it was all a bit downhill from there. Maybe staff were distracted setting up for the wedding that was happening that afternoon, but it wasn't overly busy in terms of diners, and the service was extremely slow.
It took a long time for someone to take our orders, and at one point we had to ask three times for some more water for the table before it was brought over.
With our first round of drinks, we were given one wine glass stained with a very obvious lipstick mark, and one that was cracked. We also got given a spoon stained with lipstick with our coffees at the end. I understand these things can happen sometimes, but to receive so many dirty or broken things over the course of one meal wasn't great. Staff were apologetic and helpful when it was brought to their attention.
The wines were nice. There was a good selection, our table ended up with one of each type and everyone was happy with their flavours. The cider options were nice too.
The food itself was just okay. All of the vegetarian meal options were extremely overpriced; I don't often pay more for a meal with a pumpkin base (and no fancy/rare ingredients, like truffle oil, for example) than one where wagyu beef is the main ingredient. The vegetarian pizza I ended up ordering felt like it was 50% olive oil, literally dripping in it, and wasn't flavourful or filling. The staff were kind enough to add a vegetable topping that isn't usually on that pizza (but is on others on the menu) but it wasn't enough to add any real stand out taste.
The wagyu beef burger my partner ordered was overcooked so certain parts of the patty and bun were actually burnt. The majority of the burger and the fries were nice, but again, overpriced when compared to burgers of a similar size and ingredient list you can get in certain places in Geelong or Melbourne.
The view, the chicken run that goes around the very clean toilets, and the set up of the deck were lovely and a nice backdrop to catch up with friends. But I can't recommend Clyde Park for a substantial meal, unfortunately.
Again, it may have just been an off day, because most other people loved their visit here, so hopefully future visitors enjoy it more...
Read moreOur fairytale wedding took place on the 18/01/2025 at Clyde Park! After a recommendation from a family member, and knowing nothing about the venue, we added this vineyard to our shortlist to visit, to see if it would suit us. It was clear from the moment that we arrived at Clyde Park, that it was the perfect wedding venue for us! We had seen a handful of other venues and felt very underwhelmed after walking out of all of them. When we arrived for our first meeting at Clyde park, we met the staff, we sat down for a chat with a platter and a drink in hand and we even got to tour the property including the beautiful river ceremony location. The owners, Terry and Sue, really helped us to create a vision for our perfect wedding and we walked out wanting to put our deposit down immediately!
This venue had everything that we wanted. It has the chill/farmy vibes, the beautiful vineyard views and the stunning gum trees and serenity of the river ceremony location that reminded us of being in the bush at Halls Gap. The inside of the venue itself also looks stunning no matter how it is set up and the staff did an incredible job to put together an awesome look for our cocktail style wedding with all our bits and pieces of homemade decorations that I brought in. They even made our amazing cake, to which we are still eating nearly a month later! We wish to thank you all so much for everything, especially to Gesh, the event coordinator who was extremely helpful, super responsive and very patient with us. We love looking back now on all our stunning photos in and around the venue and we can't be happier with how everything worked out. We can't wait to come back and celebrate our future wedding anniversaries...
Read moreVery disappointed. Mutton dressed as lamb. Went there twice ... first time - mixed our orders, second time - plastic found in food, spilt wine all over me and expensive meals. A couple of weeks back, we went as a group and was going to make Clyde Park a meeting point between Ballarat and Geelong. It was decided never again. On a previous time, they mixed up our order. This time ... 1) a plastic bottle lid tamper-evident band or security ring was found in one of our food meals, and 2) a waitress had spilt a whole glass of white wine all over me. Instead of going to the end of the table and placing the tray down, she placed a coke on the table over my shoulder whilst holding the tray, only to lose balance. In return ... I had to live with sticky wine all over my shirt/neck/back/trousers, a coke for free, and a free drink for the plastic item in the food. WOW! ... NOT. It was so bad I had to use the toilet hand wash paper towels to wipe myself down. Whilst going to the toilet through the tables to dry myself, it looked like I had wet myself badly. So humiliating and embarrassing. Although, very apologetic, no mention from managers and this should have never happened, especially when paying top dollar for meals. Absolutely disgraceful. Regarding the food, it was average, but pub like meals charged at posh restaurant prices. The views are good though, but so far service has been amateur and food...
