We loved our stay here, however the pool was cold and uncomfortable despite being told it's 32degrees it felt much cooler than that. The air inside the pool room was also freezing despite my friend visiting in June and saying it was super hot and steamy in the pool area. Very disappointing to go also in winter and have it be really cold. An indoor heated pool is the main attraction for a winter getaway so that was definitely a let down.
My mother in law had a brand new tent for her powered site booking but due to severe strong winds, felt it unsafe to stay in the tent. She asked to upgrade to a cabin, was told only safari tents were available which she was happy with except the staff told her she couldn't "upgrade" as such and would have to pay for the safari tent AND the powered site fee, even though she would be freeing the powered site for someone else. Instead of making some money off her by upgrading her (we expected her to just pay the difference for the upgrade to the safari room) they instead left a customer upset and unhappy. She bunked in with her daughter who had booked a 2 bedroom cabin and was lucky to be able to take shelter from the dangerous weather.
The playground being under construction was a disappointment as there was no alternative other than a swing and the jumping pillows. A shame there was nothing else for the kids and no discount to the booking due to a missing attraction off the park.
The park is very clean and tidy, and clearly well maintained so that was really nice. In better weather, and when the playground is finished and accessible I beleive it would be really great to come back and we probably would come back again. The powered sites are very spacious, much bigger than expected. All in all it was good but I felt the service was disappointing with how they handled my mother in...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights as a family of 4 (kids aged 9 & 11) in a Safari tent. The heater worked wonders to keep the place warm, but it did have to be kept on permanently. LOVED the outdoor tub on the deck for a nightly soak - so warm and toasty even though it was freezing outside. Only negatives for us; the location (busy highway, not really nearby to anything - you need to drive places) and the kitchen in the tent (basic) but a bit too basic (no water cups, tiny mugs, could do with serving plater for BBQ meats and grater too - also no freezer in fridge). Oh and the tent needs more hooks to hang up things like jackets and wet towels.
We stayed a Mon, Tues & Wed night - just a heads up that so many things in the area were closed on Mon & Tues! The winery 300m from camp site doesn't open for dinner on weekdays (ONLY Sat night) and they close at 4pm Wed-Sun making it hard for parents to have an evening wine tasting & cheese platter (surely this would be popular if they promoted it correctly!).
Kids loved the bunks in the tents, the heated indoor pool and the go karts. They also enjoyed scooting around the park and we felt comfy leaving them go off and explore on their own (as a pair). A different FREE kids activity offered each day during school hols - kids LOVED the reptile lady and being able to meet all her animals and...
Read moreJust returned from a 4 night stay with the family in our caravan. Two things struck me before arriving 1. Where is Marcus Hill? and 2. This is an expensive caravan park.
Initially unsure of the location I definitely came around to it by the end of our stay. It’s an easy drive to both Queenscliff and Ocean Grove. Aside from the adjoining winery there is no where you can really walk to from the park. However the location comes into its own when you take in to account the space. The caravan and camping sites are HUGE! So much room here that there is no stress about reversing into these sites. There also and enormous amount of open space for the kids and fantastic walking or running track around the outer edge for those who like to keep fit. The facilities are equally as impressive with an weather proof indoor pool, impressive gym and hire go carts that aren’t falling apart, tennis court, jumping pillows, bmx track, playground, movie room, flying fox, basketball, netball footy goals and more.
The staff are super friendly and clearly enjoy their job with an infectious happy attitude to every encounter.
A couple of jumping pillows were out of action during our stay and yes the price is at the top end for a caravan park but it really is...
