To access this located you’ll need to drive for a two kilometres along an unsealed road from the Kings Highway. The lookout is located inside the Clyde River National Park. The lookout has an excellent view that looks southeast over the Clyde River and Batemans Bay, all the way to the ocean. If you’re driving here on a wet day you’ll need to be prepared to tackle the mud that comes with driving on the unsealed road. There is parking for about 20 cars at the lookout. There are some tables and seats at the top. There’s also a BBQ and one garbage bin.

Nice lookout in a normal weather. Driving may be difficult on dirt roads to get there. Great view of the bay. Open area would be good for a picnic. It has some tables to enjoy food. No toilets. It leads to some trails towards Clyde river campground. All are dirt roads. Overall a good secluded area to enjoy.

Cool spot but hard to get up there on a rainy day. A bit of dirt road and our car got stuck on the last uphill section. Basic facilities and the lookout is surrounded by trees so you actually have to walk around to get a view of Bateman bay harbour and water. Not bad but I would be back there again.

My grandfather, Commander Douglas A. Holmes R.A.N. (Ret'd), had the vision for this lookout over 60 years ago. He lobbied the Forestry authorities, the Regional Council and local politicians for a small, select group of trees to be removed around this hilltop. The result was an amazing view to the East, showing the Clyde River, Batemans Bay and even the Tollgate Islands, about 5kms out to sea. The opposite side of the Lookout, through the trees, shows the Clyde River in the Nelligen region, 8 kms up the river. Holmes Lookout is named after my...

Great place to take kids to be up close and sometimes hands on with beautiful animals. It can be a little pricey for what you pay for but you know the money goes to taking care of animals that are injured so cant complain. I would recommend they upgrade a few things like the train, kiosks and playground ......
