On the 13 Dec 2021 I went back to this lookout since it was, Finally!!!, open again. They've done a beautiful job. Good paths, good toilets and a lot more easy for disabled people to get around. It's nice that the old ironstone hut hasbeen preserved. There is a good spiral path off to the right but the final lower bit of path has quite a few steps so it is still inaccessible to those with sticks and wheelchairs. My husband couldn't get down to it. If you want to continue further down along the track out to the peak that will require good balance, some stamina and there are plenty of opportunities for falling into the valleys below. Seeing as I was the only driver, with my husband back up the top waiting for me, I made it halfway to the end of the track before turning back. It was a very hot day and I was way out of condition after all the months in lockdown, so better safe than sorry!

N.B. Review from halfway through 2019. One Star. Leaving this up because some record has to be made of how slack this council is. Closed since forever. They just keep changing the date on the sign. Just like Echo Point which took forever to do Not Very Much. Then the idiot Mayor locked all the locals out during lockdown. God forbid that locals get to enjoy their own...

A delightful lookout that provides sweeping panoramic views of the Megalong Valley. A bit of a ‘hidden gem’, this isn’t one of the busier lookouts in the Blue Mountains, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful. Only a 10-15 minute drive from the town centre, it’s easy to add on to a visit to Blackheath - and is well worth it!

Facilities: The lookout comprises three different viewing areas, a classic bush rock picnic shelter and a small car park.

Access: It’s good to note that the road from the town of Blackheath does get a bit narrow and windy on the way to the lookout, and the last section of the road is unsealed. However, the road is in good condition and easy for any car to manage (though caravans may find it challenging, and coaches are not permitted due to the narrowness of the last section...

Driving towards the lookout, you drive past some great secluded houses. The road towards the lookout becomes unsealed.

We visited on a cloudy day, and you can see the clouds and mist very quickly roll in, which was very mystical. But before it was covered, we got to see an awesome view. There is a map showing the many different sections that make up the blue mountains, which makes you realise how wonderful and vast this area is.

There is 3 lookout areas. One main one and 2 smaller ones, so you get to see all facets of the view. If your adventurous, there is some stone steps leading down off one of the platforms and you can walk out onto one of the ridges. It is unfenced, but quite wide.

Awesome place to visit for some...

Trying to find a quiet spot giving good views of the area we stumbled across this place. Just a few quiet kms off the highway, down a narrow road, is this beautiful spot. There is a decent car park, multiple vantage points and even a small shelter with tables and seats for when you need get away from rain or sun. There's a simple public toilet too. There are some rough steps leading down from one of the vantage points and this leads out a few hundred metres along the promontory to Panorama Point with even more amazing views. It's worth the walk but the path is not fenced and the drop is long, so keep an eye on little kids.
