Didn't actually camp here, just spent an afternoon hiking around. To be honest I probably wouldn't really want to camp here as the campsite didn't look all that great. Was right by the road, not very private, and really not that picturesque.

On the other hand the hiking was really nice! You basically just follow along the river for the first part, and listening to that and the birds is very peaceful. Also not many people on the hike which is always a plus. After following the river for a long while the trail splits - we chose the 'hard route' and basically walked up a big hill for half an hour, but once we got to the top it was nice to see the park from a more elevated point of view.

Didn't really see any animals, but heard some kookaburras which I always enjoy. The trail is also very rough and narrow, and expect to walk across trees, over cliffs, and through a bunch of ferns! Also I highly recommend planning your route before you go as the trail is not very...

It was a Sunday drive - we were looking at potential camping spots in the Lerderderg State Park. We knew that there were only about 2 locations allowing camping. We took roads/tracks that used O'Brien's Rd and eventually ended up crossing the Crossing. We stopped there for a picnic lunch. Firstly, understand that it was mid-May and 8 degrees Celsius at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Nonetheless, there were picnic tables overlooking the Lerderderg River, a small rotunda with a table perched on a highpoint overlooking the area and a small toilet block around the nearby bend in the road. The river was virtually not there (a couple of puddles in the pebble covered riverbed). Heaps of wrens hopping around. One stray European Wasp. There were a couple of walking tracks available. O'Brien's Road is all gravel with rut indentations here and there but fine for a 2WD...

Visited the Lerderderg park for a new year hike and we decided to do the East walk towards Cowan loop this time. Easy access with car parking from the O'Briens crossing. The path is narrow and slightly full of overgrown plants making it a little hard to hustle through the track. Nice little rock beach along the water for a break. Part of the trail involved scramble which was okay this time as the water level is very low. Up and down hills the whole way with some walking space dropped away so need to be careful where you put your feet. Still plenty of beautiful flowers to be seen and many lizards out for sun...
