We were lucky to see Lake Cave with water levels at the highest they have been in 70 years. A bush fire three years ago cleared much of the vegetation, which would draw up all the water, leaving very little in the cave. We saw the “suspended table” a column suspended from the ceiling with the bottom eroded away by the acidic stream below. Our guide Kate was very enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable, making it a much more delightful tour than Mammoth Cave, where we were given self-guided audio headsets. As the highlight of the tour, we were treated to a “light show”, where Kate highlighted a dragon sculpture and other formations in the cave using coloured lights. There were also naturally orange-coloured stalactites, which was fascinating to see. Towards the end, she turned off all the lights to let us experience pitch darkness in a cave. All we could see was a glow of sunlight streaming in from the entrance, and we could hear the constant pitter-patter of water from the stalactites. It felt like we could fall asleep at that very moment, as it was so calm and peaceful. It was a great experience, although my 5yo was a little scared of the darkness. There are over 300 steps to navigate at Lake Cave, and some of the steps might be steep, narrow and slippery. My 5yo was able to do this walk, but it is 50-60m down and may not be an easy walk for the elderly. If you only have time to see one cave, I would still recommend Mammoth cave first before seeing Lake Cave as the latter is smaller and deeper down, while the former is more vast and...

We are a family of 5 visiting Margaret River for the first time and a visit to lake Cave was a must due to the once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the water inside the cave at the level it is at. Highly recommend purchasing your tickets online to make sure you get to join a tour and book in advance as they do get booked up quickly. There are over 300 steps and at times they can be quite steep so if you struggle with your balance or struggle with stairs and your mobility this cave may not be suitable for you, especially when you have to make the journey back out it’s a tough workout. The tour guide was great very informative and funny 😁 I highly recommend a visit especially within the next few weeks as the tour guide said that the water will drop significantly again so there’s not much time left. However the beautiful crystals, stalagmite and stalagtight formations alone are absolutely worth the visit. The ticket prices also are very reasonable especially as we are a group of 5 and in total it was around 80$ which I thought was pretty good. Make sure Lake Cave is on your itinerary you will not be disappointed ☺️ if I was to say one minor negative it would only be there was no aircon in the souvenir shop as you exit the cave tour! on a hot day after that climb out and up the stairs walking into there it was really quite hot you really could do with some cool air especially to help the browsing of the souvenirs a little more pleasant. But other than that it was all...

The Lake Cave itself is undeniably brilliant, showcasing the natural beauty of Australia's landscapes. The stunning formations and serene atmosphere make it a worthwhile destination for any nature enthusiast.

However, the experience was marred by a disappointing encounter at the entrance. Upon arrival, my companions and I were ignored by the staff, who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than assisting visitors. To add insult to injury, one staff member made a distasteful joke about cameras, further detracting from the welcoming atmosphere we had hoped for.

While I typically refrain from naming individuals in reviews, I must mention that one staff member, Lily, exhibited particularly unprofessional behavior. Her disregard for guests' presence and inappropriate humor left a sour impression on what should have been a memorable visit.

Regrettably, this lackluster customer service overshadowed the natural wonders of the Lake Cave. For those seeking a seamless and enjoyable experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this attraction.

This disappointing encounter marked the first instance of such behavior and unfriendly staff attendance during our extensive travels throughout Australia over the past three months. And unfortunately, it does not reflect the renowned Aussie friendliness that we have come to expect and appreciate throughout our travels.

If we hadn't booked in advance, we would have turned on our heels and walked away...

Lake Cave is a natural wonder that truly exceeded expectations, and the $22 ticket proved to be a worthwhile investment for an unforgettable experience. The guided tour, included in the ticket price, was led by an exceptional guide who added immense value to the journey. The $22 admission not only granted access to the breathtaking cave but also covered an informative and engaging tour. The guide's passion and knowledge illuminated the geological formations, providing a deeper understanding of the cave's history and significance. Navigating through the cave's well-maintained paths was made comfortable for all visitors, enhancing the accessibility of this enchanting underground world. The subtle lighting showcased the natural beauty without compromising the cave's authenticity, allowing us to appreciate its wonders in their purest form. The centerpiece, the Lake, reflected a stillness that added a magical touch to the entire experience. The guide's insightful commentary brought the cave to life, making the $22 ticket feel like a true investment in a journey into the heart of nature. For anyone exploring the region, Lake Cave is a must-visit, and the $22 admission fee is a small price to pay for the priceless memories and newfound appreciation for the marvels hidden beneath the Earth's surface.
