The park is beautiful, yes. We'd read other peoples reviews and decided to take our 3 and 4 year olds there for a BBQ and play. I'd read there were bbqs there but did not know that they were wood only (yep, all 3 of them). Even the council worker who was cleaning the stainless steel bins was dumbfounded about that-they were all dirty as the looked they hadn't been used in months as no firewood provided The playground is more for a 7 year plus as its all climbing ropes and flying foxes which were great but nothing for young kids. Playground also had quite a bit of rubbish in and around which is a shame....the fish stinks from the head down so a message to parents, please teach your children that its unacceptable to leave ice cream rappers, chip bags, drink bottles, party hats etc....on the ground. Other than those complaints, the park us lovely. Wish we could have spent more time there but with hungry young ones , the only option to have a BBQ was to rip branches off the trees for wood and that is not an appropriate option so a note to council, please either update bbqs or provide...
Read moreIt's such a large picnic area, the parks were lush n green from all the rain that we've had, it was lovely to see all the different types of dogs n their owners come down there as well. The new swings/play ground area was great, the toilets n wash bay area was nice to use, such a big change from the old facilities.
The only negative thing was the BBQ area, I could't believe you have to stack the fire wood under the hot plate & then try to light it up, that would've taken even longer. I would like to see the BBQ Areas with proper set up system like we have on the Esplanade, an area where there 3 - 5 BBQ hot plates and a big undercover shelter to protect us while cooking our meats n veggies on the hot plates.
You get so many families with kids n animals that come down to Goomboora Park for a weekend BBQ, so it would be fitting to have the right set up to cater for such an occassion. This was my first time seeing all the different changes that has occurred at this huge park, I've relocated from Perth WA afew months ago, so I'm pretty impressed with what they've done so far in...
Read moreThis parklands has everything except food! But it’s got bbqs so you can cook, dog friendly. Even people friendly! Awesome rapids through wet season. But be careful of submerged logs rocks and debris. The area is tropical bliss. Pack mozzie repellent. Water and toilet facilities. Fun primary aged park equipment. Does get busy. Parking can usually be found. But be smart with how long you stay in the sun. Pack for the swim and the fur frolic. It can be muddy! All ages love this place. Pram/ wheels skate friendly paths to some areas. Bike track through to redlynch. Coffee can be bought at the friendly caravan park before you turn off to this spot. The caravan park enjoys visitors and you can walk to their part of the river with eels and turtle sand plenty of fish to spot. Very beautiful. Enjoy it! And take your/ your pets rubbish to all the good big...
