The deeper you go into these wetlands, the more Melaleucas you find. You get to a point where these paperbarks are the only trees you'll see. And there's a reason for this: they are one of the most common species of tree that grow on land with water that lies above or just under the surface of the ground.
You can also find the blandly named "4th Lagoon". It's very small and in my mind would be better referred to as a pond. I can only imagine how many mosquitos must breed here...
