Nestled between Richmond Roads Cannon Hill, D’arcy Rd Seven Hills and Adjoining Morningside, Carina and Norman Park; Seven Hills Reserve is a beautiful bushland reserve. Accessible by each of these suburbs, with dirt paths leading across the span of it. Some paths are flat, some hilly to get the glutes working. The flora and fauna changes with the seasons, and it’s a beautiful thing to have a local bushland area like this so close to the city. Definitely one of my local faves for walk and talk catch up, as it’s a generous sized expanse of bush filled area. Great to take the dog for an explore, too. Close to Blue Poppy Cafe and the pizzeria, in Morningside if you need to caffeinate or refuel after your walk.

We did the 3km circuit walk, and the length was just right for my senior dog. The walk was very enjoyable, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a drinking fountain halfway along the trail. It was a thoughtful addition, and my dog made full use of it. The signage is generally well marked, but with my poor sense of direction, I got a bit confused at one junction where there were multiple paths. I ended up taking a wrong turn, so it's important to pay close attention to the signs. Thankfully, some friendly walkers kindly pointed me toward the correct exit.

Tranquil bush land reserve in the close proximity of the surrounding neighbourhoods. The bushland has a wonderful circuit with well marked posts. Lots of beautiful butterflies. Well frequented by locals and dogs. Signs indicate Koalas are present in the bushland. I however did not spot a Koala ( at 10 am) but I will definitely head back at cooler times (perhaps earlier in the day or at sunset) to see if I get lucky.

A unique remnant of original bushland, saved from development by the hilly terrain. Good for a workout, OK for a stroll. Several designated entry points and made tracks, but no specific parking facilities or toilets. Once a favourite dumping ground (you can still see the odd rusted kitchen appliance), the area has supposedly never been grazed and thus still has some rare native plants. I've seen lizards, birds but no other fauna. Wear good shoes and a hat, take a water bottle and phone (you could get lost or find a good photo opportunity). Many people walk there alone or with their dog, so must feel safe. Was once popular terrain for mountain bikes, but I haven't...
