The Simpson Falls, a cascade waterfall on the West Ithaca Creek, is located within the Mount Coo-tha forest, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is an easy 4 Km track and begins at Simpson Falls Picnic Area. It is excellent for wildflower viewing in late winter and spring when the golden wattles and purple hoveas of the open forest understorey burst into bloom. Links with the Eugenia Circuit. There's a Picnic area with Barbecue facilities, Toilets, and it is ideal for kids. You get there at the corner of Sir Samuel Griffith Drive and Simpsons Rd. Follow the drive way to the end and park near the picnic area. Trail notes: Head down the stairs from the car park into the picnic area. You will cross a creek and then head to the back left corner of the picnic area (western end). If you walk straight out from the bridge over the creek, you will hit a footpath. This will also lead out to the start by following it to the left. Follow the track, up some stairs, parallel to a creek and you will get to the head of the falls. Don't cross the bridge over the falls, Keep going, then turn left at the first junction to go onto the Eugenia Circuit. Keep taking lefts at junctions, and eventually you will get to a gravelled service road that you have to follow up for a while. The backend of the Eugenia circuit will be signed to the left of the gravel road eventually. The Eugenia circuit eventually leads to the other side of Simpsons Falls. You can either follow the original track back to the picnic area or take a slight detour. To get to the detour don't cross the falls but look to your right while facing the falls. There should be a little goat track you can find that eventually puts you out behind the creek closer...
Read moreWe visited here last December. Amazing landscape. Waterfall and creeks were dried up, perhaps December was not the season. We greatly enjoyed walking through the forest and bushland. Being with nature increases positive feelings, pleasures to mind and body, we witnessed these feelings when we were there. Very clean and quiet environment. Ample parking slots, drinking water, barbecue and washroom facilities are available. Could see a few birds fly around. Amazing landscape never disappoints if you're a nature lover and travel at any seasons. Outdoor adventure is best in Brisbane. This should be one of the...
Read moreThis place was pretty cool. Even though they hadn't been rained here for a while and the falls were dry, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bushwalk and the facilities at the base of the mountain. Having not been here before, I didn't really know what to expect, but I will definitely be making a return trip here, especially after the next lot of rains.
I can only imagine what this place would look like with the falls flowing and the river with some water in it. Even still it was a great place to go to and I will...
