Afghan Mosque — Attraction in Broken Hill

This was a really great experience. Definitely a highlight from my Broken Hill trip. 'Bob' was kind enough to show us around the historic property after a quick phone call. Did not expect him to arrive so promptly and with such great enthusiasm. This is the first mosque in New South Wales, built in 1887 (the first in Australia is Marree SA), following the influx of Middle Eastern men aka Cameleers who were the primary mode of transport for the interior of Australia during the 19th century.
