The SeaLink Ferry Terminal in Cape Jervis serves as the essential gateway to Kangaroo Island, providing a generally smooth start to the journey. The terminal itself is well-maintained and clean, offering comfortable waiting lounges with air-conditioning. Passengers will find a café inside that sells coffee, snacks, and light meals, which is a convenient touch before boarding. The check-in process is typically efficient, with staff members offering clear instructions for both walk-on passengers and those bringing vehicles. The overall experience is positive, with many travellers appreciating the terminal’s scenic location and the helpfulness of the staff. However, some travellers have noted that the vehicle boarding process, while guided, requires careful attention, and there have been a few isolated reports of minor vehicle damage. While the ferries themselves are comfortable, with outdoor viewing decks and a licensed café, the terminal’s main function is to facilitate a quick and organized transition from the mainland to the ferry. The terminal is part of an ongoing port upgrade project funded by the South Australian Government, which is expected to improve berthing and passenger amenities in the coming years. This suggests an even better experience for future travellers. Overall, it's a reliable and functional starting point for your trip to Kangaroo Island, with the added benefit of...

The Ferry Terminal at Cape Jervis is clean and functional. Staff there were very helpful. It has a small gift shop and Cafe, as well as tourist information and brochures for your stay on Kangroo Island.

You can check in for your ferry to KI as soon as the boat before yours, departs the harbour.

Only drivers may be in the car when it is driven on to the ferry.

Passengers must walk onto the ship from the walkway at the terminal.

An announcement is made in the terminal warning drivers to go to their cars when car loading commences.

There are 4 to 5 lanes for cars to park in prior to driving onto the ferry.

There is plenty of parking for people who do not want to take their car onto the ferry with them.

As of writing this (April 2023) this parking is free, and a short 100m to 200m from the ferry terminal.

Toilets and disabled access are available at the ferry terminal.

As seating on the ferry isn't allocated, you may sit anywhere that is free when you embark, so it's a first in, first...

The service provided by staff and ferry operators at SeaLink is second to none. I transport people with disabilities across to Kangaroo Island on a regular basis and on every occasion we have been treated with complete respect. Our requests have been heard and followed through with outstanding customer service.

Our most recent crossing involved a client with severe Meniere's Disease and she required wheelchair support to get on and off the ferry. The gentleman who assisted, Chris, knew exactly how to support someone with this condition, and not only assisted her to get into the wheelchair, and back out of the wheelchair and into my car, but explained every bump and turn to my client when getting off the ferry.

The ferry crew also assisted with manoeuvring my car on and off the ferry as I could not leave my client on their own.

I am happy to highly recommend the SeaLink Ferry service and their staff to anyone who is interested. Thank you for being disability...

Love love love our trips to KI via the Sea Link. So easy. Lovely people at the check in always welcoming & cheerful same as the reception onto the ferry & the crossing. Pop the car on than relax for 40minutes in comfy chairs. Have a coffee & cake going over & wine, beer & a pasty coming back. Very clean & great sitting or walking around outside if weather permits. Been across when its been very calm & a hot day & seen dolphins also had stormy crossings with fog & found this equally enjoyable. Wheel chair friendly. Kids enjoy it too. Thanks to all involved in this fabulous service you do a great job linking the mainland to the treasure that is Kangaroo Island.💜🤍💚

Miserable experience, woke up at 3 am drove from Adelaide to reach Cape Jervis to catch 6 am ferry but received announcement that Ferry got canceled due to mechanical issue. An hour later it got fixed but didn’t accommodate us and we went into standby queue for 2 hrs with no luck. Finally canceled our booking after 4 hrs of wait and opted for refund. People who booked this ferry 3 months ago had really bad day as they also booked group tours on same day at Island. Front desk staff wasn’t cooperative and she needs a refreshment course on customer interaction.
